Site Description: Hubei Police Officer College is located in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, which is the thoroughfare of the nine provinces. It is the only provincial public security political and legal undergraduate institution in Hubei Province and one of the first batch of provincial public security undergraduate institutions established in China. The college has gone through various stages of development, including on-the-job police training, vocational schools, colleges, and undergraduate education. Its predecessor can be traced back to the "Hubei Provincial People's Government Public Security Department Cadre Training Class" established in July 1949. In early 1955, it was designated as the "Wuhan Branch of the Central People's Public Security College" by the Ministry of Public Security, responsible for training some police officers nationwide. In September 1956, it was renamed as Hubei Provincial Public Security School, responsible for short-term training of political and legal cadres throughout the province. In June 1976, the school took the lead in recruiting outstanding young intellectuals for vocational education. After the resumption of the college entrance examination in 1977, high school graduates were officially admitted. In 1980, Hubei Provincial People's Police School was established. In April 1984, with the approval of the Hubei Provincial People's Government, Hubei Provincial Public Security College was established. In March 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Hubei Police Officer College was established to carry out undergraduate education in public security. In April 2005, the college took the lead in obtaining the right to confer a bachelor's degree among provincial public security undergraduate colleges nationwide. In September 2006, it was approved by the Hubei Provincial Academic Degrees Committee and the Provincial Department of Education as a master's program construction unit. Since its establishment 59 years ago, the college has trained over 50000 specialized talents in various fields for the political and legal front of public security, making important contributions to maintaining the political and social stability of Hubei.
