IT HomeOn October 11th, Sony officially released a detachable optical drive version of the PS5 gaming console early this morning. The machine has been upgraded to 1TB of internal storageIt will be launched in November.

According to information obtained by IGN, a spokesperson for PlayStation stated via email that there have been "no changes to the new model" in terms of storage expansion, which means players can still manually remove the cover and install additional SSDs themselves.

The previous initial version of PS5 was equipped with 825GB of internal storage space, of which only 667GB was available. The new version has been upgraded to 1TB, making it easier for players to place more games. However, for current 3A blockbusters that often run over hundreds of GB, 1TB doesn't hold many games.

According to Sony's official statement, the PS5 game console supports an additional SSD storage expansion of up to 8TB, but there are performance requirements that require the use of M.2SSD with PCIe 4.0 and above, and a read speed of at least 5500MB/s.
