What disruptive changes will the world's cutting-edge innovation in textiles bring, such as thermal regulated textiles, digital clothing, renewable textile materials, and electronic textile IoT platforms?

From October 13th to 15th, the Second International Conference on Textile Frontier Science and Technology and the Annual Conference of the World Textile University Alliance, with the theme of "Advanced Textile Science and Technology", was held at Donghua University, with over 170 keynote speeches attended by over 400 textile scholars from 63 units in 15 countries.

The conference focuses on the forefront and key issues of the entire textile discipline chain, including intelligent textile materials and products, textiles and sustainable development, high-end textile equipment and intelligent manufacturing, and contributes intelligent forces to global textile technology innovation and the construction of a modern textile industry system.

Sun Ruizhe, honorary chairman of the conference, chairman of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation, and president of the China Textile Industry Federation, believes that the textile industry should keep pace with the times and become an important soil for nurturing innovation and an important scene for applying innovation. Donghua University is the main force of industry basic research and the birthplace of major technological breakthroughs. This conference provides an important platform for global exchange and cross-border cooperation of textile technology achievements. In the future, building a modern textile industry system, technological innovation is the top priority project, and cutting-edge science is the strategic focus. "The innovation of textile science and technology must be cross integrated with emerging science and technology to form a multi-dimensional development space." Yu Jianyong, chairman of the conference, academician of the CAE Member, and president of Donghua University, said at the meeting.

2023 is the tenth anniversary of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, and also coincides with the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the "the Belt and Road" World Textile University Alliance. The second annual meeting of the World Textile University Alliance was held at the same time. This alliance is an unincorporated academic group founded in 2018 by Donghua University in collaboration with universities around the world with textile characteristics, with a total of 37 member universities from 19 countries. The theme of this annual meeting is "Sustainability ForAll: CreatingInclusive paths to development", which provides talent and innovative development support for the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" with high-quality education cooperation, and jointly promotes the construction of the "the Belt and Road" textile education community.
