In 1978, with the approval of the State Council, the Beijing Graduate Department of China University of Mining and Technology was established to recruit and cultivate graduate students; In July 1997, with the approval of the former National Education Commission and Beijing Municipal Government, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) was established. In 1998, undergraduate students were admitted. The school is located on Xueyuan Road in Haidian District, Beijing, where universities gather. It overlooks the National Olympic Park to the east and the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, and Xiangshan to the west. The school covers an area of 240000 square meters, with a total construction area of 320000 square meters. The library has a collection of over 560000 books and 280000 e-books.
