Site Description: Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1956. Its predecessor was two national key vocational schools directly under the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Chemical Industry (Lanzhou Petroleum School and Lanzhou Chemical School), as well as two employee universities (Lanzhou Refining and Chemical University and Lanzhou Chemical Industry Company) of the former Lanzhou Refining and Chemical General Factory and Lanzhou Chemical Industry Company. In 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was restructured as Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical College, becoming the first independent higher vocational and technical college in Gansu Province. In 2000, the college was transferred from Sinopec Group to Gansu Province for management. In December 2002, the college was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a national key demonstration higher vocational and technical college. In 2004, the college was designated by the Ministry of Education as two national scarce skilled talent training bases, namely the CNC Technology Application Major and the Computer Application and Software Technology Major. In September 2005, the college passed the talent cultivation level evaluation organized by the Provincial Department of Education, becoming the first outstanding vocational college in Gansu Province. At the same time, it also successfully passed the ISO9001:2000 international quality management system certification. In 2006, the college was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as one of the first batch of demonstration higher vocational colleges under national key construction.
