Site Description: Yunnan Academy of Arts was founded in 1959 and is a comprehensive higher art institution with distinct characteristics and a complete range of art categories in southwestern China. Since its establishment, Yunnan Academy of Arts has gathered a large number of famous artists. Professor Liao Xinxue, a oil painter and sculptor who returned from France, Professor Li Dan, a violinist, Professor Fang Yu and his wife, a vocalist (translator of Les Miserables), Professor Yuan Xiaocen, a well-known Chinese painter and sculptor, and other experts and scholars have successively taught in the college. The college currently has 646 faculty members, including 551 staff members at the university headquarters and 95 staff members at affiliated schools. Among the 307 full-time teachers in the university headquarters, 51 have the title of professor, 119 have the title of associate professor, 7 experts enjoy special allowances from the State Council, 5 experts with outstanding contributions at the provincial level, and 8 experts enjoy special allowances from the Yunnan Provincial Government.
