It was founded in 1983 and was originally named "Southwest Aerospace Workers' University"; Approved by the Ministry of Education in July 1999, it was converted into Chongqing Electronic Vocational and Technical College; In March 2008, it was renamed as "Chongqing Aerospace Vocational and Technical College". In December 2008, it was designated as a key cultivation unit of Chongqing Municipal Demonstration College by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. In August 2009, it was officially designated as a demonstration higher vocational college at the municipal level by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. It is the first independently established higher vocational and technical college in Chongqing.
