AIGC and Large Language Models: Reshaping the Audiovisual Industry and Ushering in a New Era of Content Creation
The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and large language models is propelling the audiovisual industry into the AIGC era at an unprecedented pace. This technology empowers high-quality content creation and builds entirely new audiovisual infrastructure and ecosystems. On March 27th, the "AIGC and Large Language Model Industry Application Forum," guided by the China Network Audiovisual Association and hosted by the "Study Strong Country" platform and Kuaishou Technology, was successfully held during the 12th Network Audiovisual Conference. Experts and scholars from government departments, industry associations, renowned universities, and audiovisual platforms gathered to delve into the past, present, and future of AIGC and large language model technologies. The forum explored the path towards co-creation and symbiosis between humans and AI, the iterative upgrading of film production and content creation, and the new requirements for news talent cultivation brought about by technological advancements.
Forum guests engaged in lively discussions on the innovative applications and future trends of AI large language models in the audiovisual field, jointly envisioning a golden age for AIGC and large language model industry applications. A central theme permeated the discussions: in a time when AIGC and large language models are profoundly altering how people work and live a time when a single sentence can generate images, create videos, and provide answers what is the irreplaceable value of humanity?
Feng Shengyong, Director of the Network Audiovisual Program Management Department of the State Administration of Radio and Television, shared his latest thoughts and outlook on AIGC and the development trends of the audiovisual industry in his opening remarks. He pointed out that the era of "asking a question being often more important than solving a problem" has arrived. AIGC is evolving at an unprecedented speed, driving profound changes across various industries and injecting strong impetus into the innovative and intelligent development of the audiovisual industry, thus expanding its development space significantly.
However, Director Feng also raised a crucial question: how can we ensure that AIGC becomes a booster rather than a replacement for the network audiovisual industry? His answer: questioning.
Questioning is not only the primary mode of human-computer interaction today but also the key skill to lead development and control the future. It's a capability, a wisdom, and the "golden key" to unlocking treasures. Without questions, there are no answers; without good questions, there are no good answers. In the AI era, those who can ask wiser and more creative questions will obtain better and more ingenious answers.
Therefore, Director Feng believes that in this era where "questioning comes first, and questions are paramount," the network audiovisual industry must be prepared to define rules, lead change, and pioneer the future with a "questioner's" mindset. This requires being a purposeful questioner (anchored in value), a skillful questioner (driven by creativity), and a principled questioner (guided by safety). Only those who can ask good questions can better utilize AI, making technology truly serve humanity, and using questioning as a "compass" for the future.
Han Xinxing, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television, stated that in recent years, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television has actively explored the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the audiovisual industry, guided by the construction of the Beijing Greater Audiovisual brand, driving the comprehensive upgrading of content production, technology application, and the industry ecosystem. He believes that artificial intelligence is reshaping the audiovisual industry at an unprecedented speed, making AI technology not only an accelerator for high-quality creation but also an innovator of cultural heritage and a creator of a better life.
Nong Tao, Party Secretary and Director of the Propaganda and Public Opinion Research Center of the Central Propaganda Department, and Editor-in-Chief of the "Study Strong Country" platform, pointed out that the rapid iteration of large language models and their applications is pushing the main battlefield of ideology into a deeper intelligent dimension. Looking to the future, AIGC is redefining the planning of the audiovisual industry. Using AIGC technology to improve major thematic propaganda, ensuring that mainstream values resonate like a resounding bell while also subtly influencing people like a gentle spring rain, is a major topic for the audiovisual industry in driving the development of AI technology.
Qian Tong, Party Secretary and Director of the Xinhua News Agency New Media Center, analyzed the media's development in the AIGC era from the perspective of the integration of media and technology. He noted that artificial intelligence technology has been deeply integrated into the core links of news production, bringing new impetus to the development of news media. From planning and editing to publishing and dissemination, all aspects are accelerating the development of new high-quality all-media production capabilities. He used the "Ordinary People's Light" column, jointly produced by Xinhua News Agency and Kuaishou for three consecutive years, as an example, demonstrating how setting up automatic hot-spot event discovery and event heat prediction, and relying on the platform's massive UGC content, can create real stories that resonate emotionally with hundreds of millions of netizens.
Kuaishous "Keling AI": New Infrastructure for Video Creation in the AI Era
In June 2024, Kuaishou launched a new generation of AI creative productivity platformKeling AI. Leveraging years of technological accumulation and cutting-edge innovation, Keling AI has quickly become a mainstream video creation tool for AI content creators and artists worldwide, holding a globally leading position in technology, users, and ecosystem.

AI-Driven Content Creation and New Talent Cultivation Mechanisms
At the forum, numerous guests also explored from an industrial practice perspective the transformative significance of AI technology on numerous fields, including stage performance, short films, and advertising.
Recently, Keling AI not only became the exclusive technology partner of the AIGC unit of the 15th Beijing International Film Festival but will also provide comprehensive technical support for Jackie Chan's Action Movie Project. Ma Ping, director of the China Film Group Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, stated that in traditional industries, it's difficult to improve cost, efficiency, and quality simultaneously. However, AI+filmmaking has achieved this for the first time. He also discussed future strategies for better leveraging AIGC technology to empower the film industry's development and content creation upgrades, addressing obstacles to the integration of film and technology and issues concerning technology and culture.
Tian Qinxing, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and director of the National Theatre of China, discussed the changes AI brings to the field of stage performance. She believes that AI technology does not replace human creation but "liberates creativity." Using the musical drama "SummonedDunhuang" as an example, she pointed out that AI large language models can quickly generate various stage design styles, helping directors focus more efficiently on the core of artistic expression. The "human-computer collaboration" model is redefining the division of labor in the creative process, contributing to the creation of more cultural masterpieces.
Chen Changfeng, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, shared from a "visual-first, audiovisual-first" perspective the significant changes AI and intelligence have brought to the field of communication during technological iteration. The rapid transformation of communication modes meets the consumption needs of different scenarios, making communication more effective and continuously optimized.
Wang Wenbin, dean, professor, and doctoral supervisor of the School of Journalism and New Media at Xi'an Jiaotong University,
