36 Kr exclusively learned that Ms. Xu Ran, CEO of JD Group, will also serve as CEO of JD Retail Group, while Xin Lijun, former CEO of JD Retail Group, has another appointment.
Xu Ran joined JD.com in July 2018 as CFO of JD.com Retail and was promoted to CFO of the group in June 2020. In May of this year, Xu Lei, CEO of JD Group, announced his retirement, and Xu Ran, then CFO of JD Group, succeeded him as the new CEO of JD Group.
Xin Lijun joined JD in October 2012 and has since served as the President of JD Retail Life Services Group, CEO of JD Health, and CEO of JD Retail Group.
A person close to JD stated that this appointment indicates that JD is "continuously promoting its cost efficiency strategy" and hopes to strengthen collaboration between its core retail business and other sectors. Xu Ran has been responsible for JD Retail Finance for 2 years, and she has been internally evaluated as "very familiar with retail business and management".
Before joining JD.com, Xu Ran served as an audit partner at PwC Zhongtian Certified Public Accountants (Special General Partnership) and worked at PwC's Beijing and San Jose offices for nearly 20 years, becoming familiar with the TMT industry and the US capital market.
During her two years as CFO of the group, Xu Ran helped JD complete mergers and acquisitions of listed companies such as Dada, Debang, and China Logistics Real Estate, as well as JD Technology's business restructuring and JD's secondary listing in Hong Kong. JD founder Liu Qiangdong praised her as "playing an important role in JD's investment and financing history.
