At the end of the north, we embark on a new starting point
CCTV News:More than a month ago, at 13:55 on September 5th, the scientific research team successfully arrived at the North Pole on the "Snow Dragon 2", marking the first time a Chinese scientific research ship has arrived at the North Pole, filling the gap in China's polar scientific research. So why did the research ship arrive at the North Pole after more than ten scientific explorations? How did the Snow Dragon 2 reach the North Pole? Journalists from the headquarters have seen and heard from the North Pole, and we will learn together through a short film

So why did the research ship arrive at the North Pole after more than ten scientific explorations? How did the Snow Dragon 2 reach the North Pole? Journalists from the headquarters have seen and heard from the North Pole, and we will learn together through a short film.
CCTV reporter Wang Nan from the headquarters:I am currently on the bridge of the "Snow Dragon 2" polar research icebreaker. The onboard Beidou navigation system shows that on September 5th, Beijing time, I am currently located at 89 degrees 56 north latitude and 130 degrees 51 east longitude, just one step away from the North Pole.
At the bridge, the leader, chief scientist, captain, and pilots of the expedition were nervously observing the route, while the chief mate and sailors reported the location of the ship at any time.
As the latitude gradually increases, the "Snow Dragon 2" is getting closer to the North Pole.
Five minutes later, the "Snow Dragon 2" successfully arrived at the North Pole.
At 13:55 Beijing time on September 5th, China's 13th Arctic Ocean Scientific Expedition team boarded the "Snow Dragon 2" polar exploration icebreaker and arrived at the North Pole during the operation period.
Wang Jinhui, Leader of China's 13th Arctic Ocean Scientific Expedition Team:Members of the 13th Chinese Arctic Ocean Scientific Expedition Team are pleased to inform everyone that we have arrived at the North Pole.
Multiple factors such as the ice breaking ability of the "Snow Dragon 2" provide navigation assistance
For the successful arrival of the "Snow Dragon 2" scientific research vessel at the North Pole, the captain admitted that this was achieved under the dual conditions of natural conditions and the strong capabilities of the scientific research vessel.
Captain Xiao Zhimin introduced that the arrival of the "Snow Dragon 2" at the North Pole this time was partly due to the lighter sea ice in the high latitude region of the Arctic this year compared to previous voyages, objectively creating conditions for the inspection team to successfully reach the North Pole. On the other hand, the ice breaking ability and rear information support of the "Snow Dragon 2" provide strong support for navigation.
Captain Xiao Zhimin of the "Snow Dragon 2":The concentration of sea ice in the high latitude regions of the Arctic is still very high, and the thickness of sea ice is also very thick. This is thanks to the strong ice breaking ability of "Snow Dragon 2". If the ice breaking ability is insufficient, it is impossible to reach the North Pole during the expedition team's northward operation. In addition, polar offices, polar centers, forecasting centers, and other units have also provided us with strong support in the rear, timely transmitting sea ice information and meteorological information. The inspection team conducted in-depth analysis of the situation of sea ice, reasonably planned the route, and basically avoided all dense sea ice areas. When the inspection team was very full of tasks, they were able to safely and efficiently reach the North Pole.
At the terminus of the North, China's Arctic Ocean scientific research sets foot on a new starting point
In the Arctic region, the expedition team conducted a comprehensive survey operation, filling the gap in the survey data of China's Arctic Ocean expedition in the Arctic region. After the assignment, the "Snow Dragon 2" circled the North Pole, crossed all longitudes of the Earth, and began sailing towards low latitudes. From then on, every inch of the trajectory of the "Snow Dragon 2" was a return journey.
On September 14th, the expedition team said goodbye to the Arctic Ocean.
On September 27th, the inspection team returned to China and the 13th scientific expedition to the Arctic Ocean in China was successfully completed.
