It is reported that by the end of October this year, Qualcomm will bring the latest flagship chip Snapdragon 8Gen3. It is reported that the new chip will introduce a new Cortex-X4 architecture, which significantly improves CPU performance. In addition, the Snapdragon GPU has always performed well, and it is predicted that the new Snapdragon 8Gen3 will further improve GPU performance and energy efficiency.

Of course, the new Snapdragon flagship platform has not been released yet, and the most popular Snapdragon platform currently depends on Snapdragon 8Gen2. Undoubtedly, the Snapdragon 8Gen2 is an excellent processor based on a 4-nanometer process technology. The CPU consists of one Cortex-X3 super core, two Cortex-A715 cores, two Cortex-A710 cores, and three Cortex-A510 small cores. At the same time, the Snapdragon 8Gen2 processor is equipped with Qualcomm Adreno740GPU, providing excellent graphics performance and gaming experience for mobile phones.

In short, as one of the most mainstream flagship platforms at present, the Snapdragon 8Gen2 has made a qualitative leap in performance compared to previous generations of Snapdragon platforms. Some friends may be curious about the extent of this improvement. Coincidentally, I have two new models, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi 9, in my hands. Let's compare them through running scores and game testing.

Firstly, in terms of GeekBench6, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra achieved a single core running score of 1898 points, multi core running score of 5373 points, Xiaomi 9 achieved a single core running score of 927 points, and multi core running score of 2816 points, which has almost doubled in four years.

Next is 3DMarkWILDLIFEEXTREME, with Xiaomi 13 Ultra scoring 3427 and Xiaomi 9 scoring 884. Compared to CPU, the improvement in GPU is more significant, almost quadrupling.

In terms of Antu Tu, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a running score of 1517683, with a CPU score of 381088 and a GPU score of 596162. The Xiaomi 9 has a running score of 576294, with a CPU score of 192495 and a GPU score of only a pitiful 137451. It seems that compared to the mobile platform four years ago, the progress of the flagship processor after four years is not a little.

By comparison, the Xiaomi 13Ultra equipped with Snapdragon 8Gen2 outperforms the Xiaomi 9 equipped with Snapdragon 855 in terms of both CPU and GPU in terms of running points. This shows that for electronic products, the performance is indeed improving year by year, and four years is enough to bring about revolutionary changes.
