According to the public information, the project is located in the northwest corner of the Shanghai Wildlife Park in Pudong New Area. The construction unit is Shanghai Wildlife Park Development Co., Ltd. The construction project address is located at No. 178 Nanliu Road, Xuanqiao Town, Pudong New Area. The scope of construction land extends to Dachuan Road in the east, Nanliu Road in the west, Renmin West Road in the south, and Shuguang Road in the north.
Construction land area: 19454.10 square meters, total construction area: approximately 25688.98 square meters. Building floors: 2-4F (Giant Panda Exhibition Hall), 1-4F (Scientific Research Office Area Building), 1-2F (Giant Panda Science Popularization Area Building), 1-2F (Accompanying Animal Exhibition Area Building), 1-2F (Service Supporting Facilities), 4F (Management Office Area Building), 1F (Breeding Area Building).
It is reported that the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the Panda Center) is a public institution directly under the State Forestry and Grassland Administration established on the basis of the former China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center under Wolong National Nature Reserve in 2013, which was approved by the central editorial office. It has 15 departments and four bases, namely, Wolong Shenshuping, Wolong Hetaoping, Dujiangyan Irrigation Project and Ya'an.
The main function is to conduct research on the ecology and population dynamics of giant pandas in the wild, undertake the national investigation and evaluation of wild animal and plant resources of giant pandas and their habitats, and monitor the dynamics of giant panda populations in the wild; Responsible for the research and development of artificial breeding, genetics, disease prevention and control, as well as related technical standards and procedures for giant pandas, responsible for the management of genetic resources and gene bank construction of rare wild animals in giant pandas and their habitats nationwide, and responsible for the management of giant panda lineages nationwide; Carry out training and release of captive giant pandas in the wild, as well as wild introduction work, carry out research on the protection of rare wild animals and plants in giant panda habitats, and guide and carry out rescue work for rare wild animals in giant pandas and their habitats; Assist in organizing and carrying out domestic and international cooperation and exchange of giant pandas, be responsible for technical guidance, carry out cooperative research, and undertake the construction of domestic and international cooperation and exchange platforms for giant pandas; Promote the construction of giant panda culture, popular science education, and publicity work; Carry out the transformation of scientific and technological achievements related to giant pandas, technology promotion, and talent team construction; Undertake scientific and technological support for the construction of the Giant Panda National Park.
