Introduction to award-winning projects

China has the world's largest crude steel production and high carbon emissions. At present, industrialized CO2 capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) projects mostly capture flue gas CO2 for geological storage and utilization, such as CO2 oil displacement and CO2 coalbed methane displacement. However, China's steel mills have multiple emission sources, significant differences in emissions, high difficulty in capture, and poor matching between sources and sinks,Urgent development of carbon capture and utilization technologies suitable for the steel industry.

The project team drew inspiration from the weathering and carbon sequestration of natural rocks, using the difficult to utilize solid waste "steel slag" in the steel industry as the main raw material, and based on the selective carbonization of free calcium oxide and calcium silicate, developed a low concentration CO2 tail gas selective carbonization technology for steel mills,Preparation of various high value-added negative carbon materials for construction, achieving a breakthrough in steel slag carbon sequestration of "1+1>2".CO2.CO210Assist in the green and low-carbon development of China's steel industry.
