According to Southern Metropolis Daily, on October 20th,Cathay Pacific Airlines was reported to have returned to Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok Airport less than an hour after takeoff, possibly due to the cargo door not being properly closed.

On the 21st, Cathay Pacific customer service personnel stated that this was a "rare incident" and a component malfunction.It stated that the involved flight was an Airbus A350 aircraft, which is a commonly used model of Cathay Pacific Airlines, and the involved flight will continue to operate normally.

It is understood that the flight involved is Cathay Pacific Flight CX596, flying from Hong Kong to Osaka, Japan. The flight was originally scheduled to depart at 8:10 am on the 20th, but it actually took off at 8:36 am.

Several Hong Kong media reported that,About 45 minutes after the flight took off, the police received a report at 9:21 that the cargo door of the plane was not closed and requested to turn back to Chek Lap Kok Airport. Firefighters also received a call to stand by at the airport.Subsequently, the aircraft landed safely at 9:37 and all standby personnel withdrew at 9:43.

According to the official website of Cathay Pacific Airlines, on the 20th, the CX596 flight departed at 12:12 and landed at 16:55 after turning back.

According to China News Agency, Cathay Pacific announced on the evening of the 20th that,In September, it carried over 1.54 million passengers, an increase of 480.1% compared to the same month last year.In the first nine months of 2023, the number of passenger trips increased by 1099% compared to the same period last year, and the transportation capacity increased by 546.7%. Cathay Pacific carried approximately 120000 tons of cargo in September, an increase of 15.3% compared to the same month last year.

Liu Kaishi, the customer and business president of Cathay Pacific, said that with the end of the summer passenger peak, the passenger volume of overseas students in September increased, and the number of outbound passengers from Hong Kong also increased significantly during the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday.
