IDC released the AI big model evaluation report. Alibaba Cloud scored 6 full marks in 11 indicators

Alibaba Cloud is the only manufacturer with a full score of "service capability", obtaining 6 full scores in 11 indicators, including general capability, service capability, innovation capability and ecological cooperation.

In the report, IDC proposed a technical evaluation framework for AI big models, which includes indicators such as algorithm models, basic capabilities, innovation and customization capabilities, platform capabilities, security interpretability, industry applications, as well as supporting services and big model ecology, aiming to comprehensively measure the progress of China's AI big model market. Fourteen major model manufacturers, including Alibaba Cloud, Baidu, Huawei, IFlytek, Lanzhou Technology, 360, Shangtang, Tencent, and Zhipu AI, participated in this evaluation.

Alibaba Cloud scored full marks on 6 out of 11 indicators, namely, general capability, service capability, innovation capability, platform capability, ecological cooperation, and e-commerce industry applications.

The index of "general ability" reflects the overall skills of the big model, including Natural language processing such as speech recognition and speech synthesis; Computer vision such as image generation and image search; Differentiation advantages of underlying technological capabilities such as machine learning/deep neural networks; Intention recognition, generalization ability, knowledge base construction ability, etc.

It is reported that Alibaba Cloud's big model family has the ability to process or generate text, voice, pictures and other modes. In the past three months, Alibaba Cloud has successively launched the basic model "Tongyi Qianwen", the audio and video big model product "Tongyi Listening and Understanding", and the AI painting creation big model "Tongyi Wanxiang". The Tongyi big model family is still iterating and evolving.

As a provider of basic models, the platform capabilities, service capabilities, and ecological cooperation level of large model manufacturers are crucial for the development of the industry. Alibaba Cloud has scored full marks on all three indicators, and is the only vendor that has scored full marks on "service capability".

The IDC report points out that "due to the extremely high cost of training large models, ordinary developers and small and medium-sized enterprises have no way to start. It is particularly important to lay out a complete ecosystem in advance, so that large models can move from existing to usable, and thus empower thousands of industries

Alibaba Cloud is a pioneer in model services and ecological construction. In 2022, Alibaba Cloud first proposed the concept of MaaS (ModelasaService) in the industry, and built a cloud computing technology and service architecture with AI models as the core, which provided a theoretical basis and best practice for the ecological construction of large models under the new wave of AI, and quickly became the industry consensus.

At the beginning of July, Alibaba Cloud announced that it would take promoting the prosperity of China's big model ecosystem as the primary goal, provide a full range of services including model training, reasoning, deployment, fine tuning, evaluation, and productization for big model start-ups, and provide full support in terms of funding and commercialization exploration. As one of the important explorations for Alibaba Cloud to practice the MaaS concept, the AI model community Modelscope launched in 2022 has become the largest and most ecologically active AI developer community in China, gathering more than 1.8 million AI developers and more than 900 high-quality AI models, with a cumulative download of more than 36 million models.
