The National Scientist Spirit Education Base of the Key Laboratory of Medical Virology is located in the Fuxing Building of Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, including the main exhibition area (Pathogenic Biology Science Museum), hall exhibition area, and laboratory culture area, with an online digital museum. The exhibition hall records the long-standing historical heritage of the pathogen discipline through displays of old objects and historical photos. It has been nearly a century since the establishment and development of the Department of Pathogenic Biology by predecessors such as Tang Feifan and Lin Feiqing, and the establishment of a key laboratory by Wen Yumei.

In January 2023, the Pathogen Museum and Digital Pathogen Museum were officially completed and opened to the public. The construction of the pathogen museum emphasizes the integration of the entire laboratory workspace and cultural construction, the integration of scientific popularization and education, the integration of historical inheritance and practical work, and the gathering of nearly a century old historical culture of the medical pathogen discipline, exploring and preserving the spiritual power in the development process of the discipline and department.

In the limited space, after full exploration and utilization, a pathogenic biology science museum with an area of about 100 square meters on the underground floor of the Fosun Building, an activity exhibition area in the lobby of the Fosun Building, and a space integrating laboratory cultural work on the 2nd to 4th floors were ultimately constructed.

The exhibition hall combines traditional forms such as precious specimens, classic images, and microsections with modern methods such as human-computer interaction and naked eye 3D to showcase micro world scenes. It records the history of several generations of experts in the etiology discipline, such as Wen Yumei and Yuan Zhenghong, who devoted themselves to studying the pathogenesis of hepatitis B virus. It records the glorious moments of discovering the world's first case of human infection with H7N9 avian influenza virus, isolating and establishing the first COVID-19 virus strain in Shanghai, and can also trace back to the scientific story behind the prevention and treatment of parasitic diseases and the preparation of physical specimens in the early days of the founding of New China. While popularizing scientific knowledge for visitors, the exhibition hall cleverly integrates the spirit of scientists into vivid materials, providing vivid teaching materials for comprehensive education.

On May 30th, National Science and Technology Workers' Day, seven departments including the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly released the list of scientists' spiritual education bases for 2023, and the Key Laboratory of Medical Molecular Virology (Pathogenic Biology Science Museum) of Fudan University was selected.
