On September 17th, Three Gorges Group announced that the world's largest offshore wind farm with single unit capacity - the Pingtan offshore wind farm in Fujian Province - will be fully connected to the grid for power generation.
The Pingtan offshore wind farm in Fujian is about 35 kilometers offshore, with a water depth of about 40 meters. The wind farm has built a total of 11 offshore wind turbines, including the 16 megawatt offshore wind turbine with the largest single unit capacity in operation worldwide, with a total installed capacity of 111 megawatts.
After the project is fully put into operation, the annual online electricity consumption is about 360 million kilowatt hours, which can replace 103800 tons of standard coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 283800 tons.
