On October 5-7, 2023, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the release of the Rotterdam diagnostic criteria for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the AE-PCOS conference was held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Academician Chen Zijiang was awarded the Walter Futterweit Clinical Research Excellence Award for his outstanding contributions in the research and clinical practice of polycystic ovary syndrome. The award was established in 2017 and is one of the most influential awards in the field of PCOS research, awarded annually to only one medical scientist who has made outstanding contributions in the field. Academician Chen Zijiang became the first Chinese to receive this honor since the establishment of the award.
