On the 10th, the Bingcheng Customs, affiliated with Harbin Customs, released information that the Bingcheng Customs Post Office intercepted 32 live scorpions of 4 species in incoming emails, marking the first time a Chinese port has intercepted them.

After preliminary determination by customs personnel, the alien species is a scorpion. Customs staff intercepted the package in accordance with the law and sent it to the laboratory for identification in accordance with relevant regulations.

The South China Wildlife Species Identification Center has confirmed that among the scorpions intercepted by Bingcheng Customs, 5 are Tityussmithii, 5 are Euscorpius italicus, 10 are Euscorpius cinnus, and 12 are Euscorpius carpathicus. The aforementioned scorpions are not naturally distributed in China and are an exotic species. If introduced to China, they will pose a potential threat to ecological and biological security.

At present, the staff of Bingcheng Customs have processed the intercepted scorpions according to regulations. (End)
