The 'air strike' is coming! The "Made in Guangzhou" unmanned manned aircraft has won the world's first
Yangcheng Evening News: Journalists Chen Zeyun and Li Zhiwen reported that "aerial sightseeing" and "aerial taxi" will become a reality! On October 13th, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued the EH216-S unmanned aerial vehicle system model certificate to Yihang Intelligent, an enterprise in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, marking that the EH216-S model design meets the airworthiness requirements of the Civil Aviation Administration and has the safety capability for manned operation. This is the world's first unmanned manned electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle (eVTOL) model certification. With the issuance of airworthiness certificates, Yihang EH216-S will have the qualification to start manned commercial operations. The next step will be to gradually carry out commercial operations in pilot cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Model certificate
The EH216-S aircraft is a product independently developed by Yihang Intelligent, which can be applied in scenarios such as manned transportation, air travel, air logistics, and emergency response. Guangzhou is the first air traffic pilot city of Yihang, with multiple air traffic routes, tourism experience routes, and logistics routes in trial operation.
The entry of manned aircraft into the commercial market cannot be separated from the airworthiness approval process of the Aviation Regulatory Authority, among which the type certificate is a necessary condition for industry entry and commercial operation. At the end of 2020, Yihang Intelligent submitted an application for the EH216-S manned unmanned aerial vehicle model certificate to the Civil Aviation Administration. After nearly 3 years, we finally obtained the first global industry certificate.
Manned Aircraft
At present, Yihang Intelligence has conducted low altitude tourism scenario trial operations in 18 domestic cities. These cities will be prioritized for commercial operation in the future. Flight sightseeing will be the first application, gradually developing into 'air taxis' and other areas. "Hu Huazhi, Chairman of Yihang Intelligence, pointed out that there are currently dozens of prepared routes, and they will soon exceed 100.
Currently, the eVTOL track is hot, with aviation giants such as Boeing and Airbus, as well as car manufacturers such as Xiaopeng Automobile, entering the market one after another. Just this week, the "Outline for the Development of Green Aviation Manufacturing Industry (2023-2035)" was officially issued, indicating the direction for the development of new tracks such as eVTOL. The issuance of the model certificate will pave the way for industry exploration.
The development of low altitude economy is in full swing, and Guangdong, which has cultivated leading enterprises such as Yihang Intelligence, is also actively developing new business formats.
The low altitude economy has become a new blue ocean for industrial development and a new hotspot for economic growth, with enormous potential. "Chen Jie, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Huangpu District Party Committee, said that the district has 46 upstream and downstream enterprises in the low altitude economy industry chain, with output value and revenue exceeding 10 billion yuan.
In August, the "Several Measures to Support the High Quality Development of Low Altitude Economy in Shenzhen (Draft for Soliciting Opinions)" was released, proposing to introduce 12 specific measures to "legislate" for the low altitude economy.
Yin Shijun, the chief engineer of the Civil Aviation Administration, suggested that while ensuring safety, we should continuously optimize product design, gradually expand application scenarios, form replicable technologies and standards, and simultaneously carry out internationalization work to enhance the international competitiveness and impact of Chinese technology and products.
