Hunan Daily, October 15th (Reporter Yan Shidun, Correspondent Shen Si) Today, as an important component of the Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center, the opening ceremony of the Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory Dongting Laboratory was held at Yueyang University. It is currently the only laboratory jointly built by a province or city and settled in a city or state. The total investment for the first phase of Dongting Laboratory is 1 billion yuan, and the Yueyang Headquarters Laboratory Building and Hunan Food Industry Science and Technology Innovation Park will be constructed. The plan is to be completed and put into use by the end of July 2024 and the end of 2025, respectively.

In order to build a technological innovation highland with core competitiveness, in 2022, our province began to build a Hunan laboratory system led by Yuelushan Laboratory, Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center, Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Furong Laboratory, respectively, to create innovation platforms in the fields of advantageous seed industries, industrial common technologies, deep computing power support, and precision medicine.

Dongting Laboratory mainly focuses on the protection and processing utilization of food resources, basic theory and cutting-edge technology research, key core technology research, and quality and safety control throughout the entire industry chain. It conducts basic, cutting-edge, and public welfare scientific research, cultivates the internal driving force and development momentum of scientific and technological innovation in food enterprises, and creates a leading world-class food science research highland and a key food core technology innovation highland in China Digitally empowering the food manufacturing industry to cultivate highlands and gather high-level food innovation talents, leading the provincial and national food innovation development.

In recent years, Yueyang City has adhered to the construction of the green food industry chain as an important engine to promote the construction of provincial sub central cities. There are currently 1650 food processing enterprises in the city, including 430 above designated enterprises, 3 listed enterprises, and 29 provincial-level specialized and innovative "little giants" enterprises. Last year, food processing enterprises above designated size in the city achieved a total output value of 169.67 billion yuan.
