On October 14th, the 2023 Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering was held in Dalian, where the 2023 Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award ceremony was held. The "Shape Performance Application Integrated Design and Control Technology of Cutting Tools for Aerospace Energy Equipment and Heavy Parts Processing" project, presided over by Professor Liu Xianli from the School of Mechanical Power Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, won the first prize for technological invention.

This project has broken through the bottleneck of efficient specialized tool design, tool preparation, and precision machining technology for key components in fields such as aerospace energy equipment. We have developed a tool design platform based on the "shape performance use" theory, which can shorten the development cycle of special tools for aerospace and energy equipment critical components by an average of 30%, achieving designable tool performance and predictable tool life. We have developed over 80 types of special cutting tools for processing critical components such as thin-walled components, impellers, casings, and large cylinder sections in 9 series. The precision and efficient machining tools for key components of aerospace energy equipment developed have been widely applied in backbone enterprises in China's aerospace and other fields.
