Do you all think that many projects constructed in Shenzhen are very fast? Indeed, Shenzhen has abundant funds and there is nothing difficult to overcome!
However, the construction of the Spring Wind Tunnel, which started in 2016 and has been under construction for 7 years with a planned total investment of over 5 billion yuan and a length of approximately 5.08 kilometers, has not yet been completed and opened to traffic by 2023? Can it be completed and opened to traffic in 2024?
Today, let's share this legendary tunnel with everyone!
The road above the Chunfeng Tunnel is a necessary route from the core urban area of Luohu in Shenzhen to the eastern region of Shenzhen. It consists of Binhai Avenue, Binhe Avenue, Shangbu Elevated Road, Chunfeng Elevated Road, Yanhe South Road, and other components to form the Shenzhen South Ring Expressway system.
Faced with the huge population and traffic volume in Shenzhen, the Spring Wind Elevated Main Line has discontinuous basic lanes and narrow roads, resulting in long-term traffic congestion. Drivers are very uncomfortable and afraid to pass through this area.
In view of this, Shenzhen decided to build an underground fast track, which is the Chunfeng Tunnel. The Chunfeng Tunnel is located in the core urban area of Shenzhen. It starts from the east side of the Shangbu Interchange on Binhe Avenue in the west, connects with Binhe Avenue, ends at the south side of the Xinxiu Interchange in the east, and connects with Yanhe North Road. The total length is about 5.08 kilometers, of which the tunnel is about 4.82 kilometers long, accounting for nearly 95%.
The Chunfeng Tunnel, as an underground tunnel, belongs to the urban expressway. The tunnel adopts a single hole and double layer structure, which is very rare in China. In Shenzhen, it is the first design scheme, with one-way 2-lane and continuous emergency parking spaces, dedicated to small passenger cars. The design speed is 60 kilometers per hour, and the total investment of the project exceeds 5 billion yuan.
The Chunfeng Tunnel has officially started construction on December 26, 2016. Although it has been nearly 7 years, it has not yet been completed and opened to traffic. After all, it is still very difficult to build such an important tunnel in the downtown area. Moreover, the design of this tunnel requires a larger tunnel diameter for a single hole and double layers, so the scale of shield tunneling machines is also very large.
According to the data, the "Spring Wind" shield tunneling machine was jointly developed by China Railway Equipment and China Railway Tunnel Bureau. The excavation diameter reached 15.8 meters, equivalent to a five story building height, with a total length of 135 meters and a weight of 4800 tons, and was used for excavating the Shenzhen Spring Wind Tunnel. The excavation section of the "Spring Wind" shield machine will pass through 11 broken zones and excavate 3.6 kilometers of rock layers at once.
The engineering scene of the "Spring Wind" shield tunneling machine is equivalent to driving on tofu blocks, which is very difficult.
According to the current engineering progress, the shield tunneling of the Chunfeng Tunnel has completed a total of 3157.06 meters, accounting for 87.62% of the designed amount of shield tunneling. The engineering progress is relatively optimistic.
As the first "single hole and double layer" motor vehicle tunnel in Shenzhen, the Chunfeng Tunnel is divided into two layers of lanes, with one-way and two lanes on each layer and continuous emergency parking strips. The designed speed is 60 kilometers per hour. In 2016, the estimated investment was 5.137 billion yuan. Currently, the project has been under construction for nearly 7 years, and it is unknown whether the total investment amount has increased significantly?
According to the current progress, it is still very likely to be opened by the end of 2024. Compared to the congested traffic on the road, it would be great if it could be completed as soon as possible!
After the completion and opening of the Chunfeng Tunnel, a "Chunfeng Road Elevated+Chunfeng Tunnel" system will be formed on this section, effectively solving the problem of congestion on the Chunfeng Road Elevated, greatly improving the traffic operation efficiency of the "South Ring" rapid system in the southern region of Shenzhen, and effectively alleviating traffic congestion between Luohu District and the southern region. It only takes 6 minutes from the Shangbu Interchange to the Xinxiu Interchange, which will greatly alleviate traffic congestion in the future.
