Unmasking the Truth About "Mixed Oil": Is the Tanker Truck Really Clean?
In recent years, food safety issues have been occurring frequently, affecting every consumer's nerves. Recently, a "mixed oil" incident has sparked widespread social concern, the main culprit of which is a seemingly ordinary tanker truck. While carrying edible oil, it hides a secret, raising consumer concerns about the safety of their food.
This tanker truck's identity is not simple. It was once used to transport kerosene. Even more shocking is the claim that it was thoroughly cleaned before transporting edible oil. But is this really the case? Can tanker trucks truly be cleaned?
Tanker Truck Internal Structure: Hidden Sanitary Dead Zones
From the outside, a tanker truck appears like a plain, cylindrical container. However, its interior holds a secret. Inside, it is not empty but divided into small compartments by metal plates, interconnected by a hole in the middle.
This structure is not a useless design; it plays a crucial role during driving. When the vehicle is in motion, inertia is generated. Without these partitions to keep the entire tank of liquid connected, the tank weighing several tons would generate enormous inertia during braking, posing a significant threat to the driver's safety.
However, this design also has a fatal flaw: it creates sanitary dead zones that are difficult to clean. The tanker truck's internal partitions are often welded firmly to the tank, making them difficult to remove. To prevent leaks, the tank is also a single piece, making it impossible to dismantle. A complete cleaning of the interior usually requires someone to climb inside the tank for cleaning.
Cleaning Process: Residual Matter Difficult to Completely Remove
Cleaning a tanker truck is not as simple as one might think. It involves a series of complex steps. First, the liquid inside the tank must be drained as much as possible, and the fuel in the fuel tank must be transferred to ensure safety during cleaning.
Then, appropriate cleaning equipment, such as high-pressure cleaners and detergents, must be selected for cleaning. After cleaning, water must be added to the tank, and the wastewater must be drained. This entire process needs to be repeated three to four times to achieve a relatively clean effect.
However, even after such a complex cleaning process, residual matter remains inside the tanker truck that is difficult to remove. Due to the presence of partitions, many sanitary dead zones are formed within the tank, making it difficult to clean thoroughly. Moreover, the liquid being transported is often sticky, adhering firmly to the interior of the tank like stubborn grease in the range hood, making it hard to remove.
Oil Not Soluble in Water: The Fatal Risk of Mixed Oil
Water cleaning cannot completely remove residual matter inside the tanker truck because oil is not soluble in water. However, different types of oil can be mixed, such as edible oil easily mixing with kerosene. This means that any tanker truck used for kerosene, regardless of whether it was cleaned, will eventually create harmful "mixed oil" for human consumption.
The "Mixed Oil" Incident: Who is Behind This?
In the "mixed oil" incident, China Storage and Logistics Group Oil and Fat Co., Ltd. and Sanhe Huifu Grain and Oil Group Co., Ltd. were thrust into the spotlight. They were accused of using tanker trucks previously used for kerosene to transport edible oil. Although they have conducted self-inspections, the "Jin Ding" brand of edible oil under China Storage and Logistics Group has been completely removed from online platforms, raising consumer concerns about their production safety.
It is important to note that China Storage and Logistics Group and Sanhe Huifu are only sellers in the sales link, while the actual buyers are different. According to videos circulating online, a tanker truck with license plate numberE5476W not only transported kerosene and edible oil alternately but also transported vegetable oil, coal-based oil, edible oil, animal feed, and fertilizer within half a year, creating a truly "mixed" mess.
Based on the inquiry results of this tanker truck's travel route, it not only delivered goods to China Storage and Logistics Group's oil pressing factory but also stopped and unloaded goods at Wuhan Yihai Kerry (parent company of the Golden Dragon Fish brand) on March 24th and at Xianyang Xinxinglu Golden Dragon Fish factory on June 4th.
This means that Golden Dragon Fish also received edible oil unloaded by this kerosene tanker truck. Golden Dragon Fish previously claimed that their edible oil was packed in barrels at their own factory before being transported and sold externally and that they would not use other companies' tanker trucks. Now, the travel route of this tanker truck has undeniably slapped Golden Dragon Fish in the face, causing their market value to evaporate by 85 billion yuan.
Food Safety Cannot Be Ignored: Thorough Investigation to Provide Consumers with a Safe and Healthy Consumption Environment
Food safety is of paramount importance; any disturbance can affect millions of consumers. The safety of edible oil in particular impacts the fate of families and the catering industry, and the quality of countless other food products is also affected.
Currently, the State has established a dedicated investigation team to thoroughly investigate the "mixed oil" incident, completely eliminate this major threat to food safety, and provide consumers with a clean and healthy consumption environment.
Conclusion:
The "mixed oil" incident has once again sounded the alarm for food safety. We must strengthen regulations to prevent such incidents from happening again. At the same time, consumers must also be vigilant, choosing to purchase food through legitimate channels to protect their own rights.
