Zhang Yaoxue, academician of the CAE Member, president of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Tsinghua University, and chief consultant of the event, delivered a speech as a consultant expert representative. He said that the theory and technology of artificial intelligence have made rapid development, making breakthroughs in the basic model of Natural language processing, deep learning, intelligent robots and other fields, reaching or exceeding human standards, developing beyond imagination, and becoming a strategic technology engine leading a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change. At the same time, he looks forward to strengthening academic exchanges, technological innovation, and cooperation in application fields in this year's competition, and leveraging the role of artificial intelligence in empowering high-quality economic and social development.

Excellent project sharing

At the launching ceremony, the third "Tsinghua University National Powerful Research Institute Cup" award winning project team, on behalf of Zhang Shuyuan, Department of Electronic engineering, Tsinghua University, shared the team's research and development process and thinking on artificial intelligence and robots.

It is reported that the competition has set up a "Technology Innovation Competition" for global startups and innovation teams, as well as a "Construction Robot Tsinghua Student Special Competition" for Tsinghua students. The Tsinghua Student Competition is planned to be held from June to September, and the Technology Innovation Competition will be held from September to December. On the basis of the original four major competition areas of the Bohai Rim, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong Hong Kong Macao, and Central and Western regions, the competition has added a special promotion event for the Sichuan Chongqing region.

The technology innovation competition will focus on "innovative artificial intelligence technologies that can be applied to robots", with a focus on collecting innovative technologies and their applications in fields such as unmanned systems, intelligent perception, and human-machine hybrid technology.

This year's Tsinghua Student Competition will have a proposition group and a creative group, with preliminary and final rounds held respectively. Training and exchange activities will be organized before the final round. Among them, the proposition group has a total of three propositions, including "Multi sensor fusion dead reckoning of mobile robots in complex building environments", "Chassis path planning of robot building scenes", and "Predictive design of robot construction and scheduling efficiency". The creative group focuses on the theme of "Large language models, AIGC application and innovation in the field of construction robots", and participating teams can freely design technical solutions under the theme.
