On September 11th, JD Health officially launched its "Expired Medicine Recycling" public welfare project. The project aims to provide more people with safe drug protection by opening up the capability of destroying expired drugs and actively participating in the protection of the ecological environment.

Users only need to search for "expired medicine recycling" through the JD App, submit relevant information, and JD Express will pick up the medicine at their doorstep. JD Health will be responsible for professionally destroying these expired drugs, ensuring the safety and transparency of the entire recycling process.

Jin Enlin, CEO of JD Health, pointed out that this public welfare project not only helps protect the ecological environment but also reflects the corporate social responsibility. It is also an important practice to educate the public about the safe use of drugs.

Expired Medicine Recycling: An Urgent Social Issue

In daily life, household medicines often expire for various reasons. According to data, China produces a huge amount of expired drugs each year. If not properly disposed of, it can not only pollute the environment but also pose a threat to human health.

JD Health's user survey shows that 86% of users have expired medicines at home, with over 36% storing a significant amount of expired drugs. Nearly 85% of users, upon discovering expired drugs, choose to discard them with household waste, which undoubtedly increases environmental pollution and safety risks.

Multi-party Cooperation to Build a Long-term Recycling Mechanism

To explore the establishment of a long-term expired medicine recycling mechanism, JD Health invited various stakeholders to participate in a roundtable discussion at the launch event.

Liu Chunlong, Secretary-General of the China Environmental Protection Foundation, suggested exploring a mechanism that allows the public to continuously and deeply participate in the project, combining the carbon credit model to stimulate public participation enthusiasm.

JD Health has also designed various interactive gameplay, such as providing public welfare energy, environmental protection badges, and coupons, to encourage user participation. In addition, JD Health has organized a team of licensed pharmacists with clinical pharmacy experience to provide professional pharmaceutical services for users, and uses live broadcasts, videos, and graphics to promote public awareness, increasing users understanding of the dangers of expired medicine and the importance of recycling.

Cheng Weiwei, Deputy General Manager of the Marketing Department of China Resources Sanjiu, also expressed that China Resources Sanjiu will actively guide users to purchase medicines reasonably and avoid waste.

Intelligent Supply Chain Ensures Safe and Transparent Recycling

During the expired medicine recycling process, JD Health applies an intelligent integrated supply chain solution, using big data and IoT technology to track the flow and processing status of expired drugs, ensuring safety and transparency throughout the entire recycling process.

Recycled expired drugs will be collected in designated unqualified product warehouses, under the closed management of dedicated personnel and dedicated warehouses. After completing the registration with the environmental protection bureau system, they will be uniformly destroyed by hazardous waste treatment companies.

Conclusion

The launch of JD Health's "Expired Medicine Recycling" public welfare project marks an improvement in corporate social responsibility and provides a new approach to addressing expired medicine pollution. By collaborating with various stakeholders to jointly build a safe drug ecosystem, it will contribute to the sustainable development of society.

With the advancement of the project, JD Health will continue to explore more effective recycling mechanisms, contributing to the construction of a more comprehensive expired medicine management system. It is believed that in the near future, expired medicine recycling will become a common social behavior, making positive contributions to environmental protection and public health.
