On September 9th, the Civil Aviation Administration of South Central China issued a usage permit to Henan General Aviation Airport Management Co., Ltd. for Dengfeng Shaolin Airport. This signifies that Dengfeng Shaolin Airport, the first newly built Class A general aviation airport in Henan Province, is about to officially commence operations after completing all necessary preparations.

Dengfeng Shaolin Airport enjoys a superior geographical location. It is situated approximately 5.7 kilometers from Dengfeng city center and around 10 kilometers from Shaolin Temple, boasting convenient transportation and the potential to effectively drive economic development in surrounding areas. The airport boasts comprehensive infrastructure, including a 60023 meter runway, 18 parking stands, 2 aircraft parking hangars, 1 maintenance hangar, and a 1710 square meter integrated air traffic control building.

Dengfeng Shaolin Airport primarily aims to develop and fulfill functions encompassing flight training, emergency rescue, medical rescue, forest fire prevention, pest control, aerial patrols of the World Geopark, short-haul transportation, and aviation tourism. It will also simultaneously implement aviation science and education activities. Currently, two general aviation enterprises have signed agreements to settle in the airport. Among them, Henan General Aviation Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd. has established a civilian unmanned aircraft operator training base at Dengfeng Shaolin Airport, becoming a civil unmanned aircraft operator license (Henan 05) exam center authorized by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

Dengfeng Shaolin Airport was funded by the Dengfeng Municipal Government, with Zhengzhou Shaolin Airport Management Co., Ltd. as the airport owner and Henan General Aviation Airport Management Co., Ltd. as the operator. Henan General Aviation Airport Management Co., Ltd. is a specialized general aviation airport management institution under the Zhongyu Aviation Group, responsible for the operation and management of backbone general aviation airports across the province.

The certification and commencement of operations at Dengfeng Shaolin Airport mark a significant advancement in the development of Henan Province's general aviation industry. Henan General Aviation Airport Management Co., Ltd. has stated that it will leverage the operation of Dengfeng Shaolin Airport as an opportunity to meticulously implement the requirements outlined in the "Implementation Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of the Low-Altitude Economy in the Province (2024-2027)".
