This classroom is the "gas station" for these "flower protection envoys" on Chengjiaqiao Street
On the morning of October 19th, the "Butterfly Love Habitat Beauty and Harmony - Garden Society Linkage Butterfly Theme Science Popularization Activity" brought a lively science popularization classroom on butterfly knowledge to the "Flower Protectors" of two habitat gardens in Chengjiaqiao Street. This is the first park community linkage activity held in Chengjiaqiao since the establishment of the Natural Ecological Science Popularization Alliance jointly created by the Shanghai Zoo, the District Ecological Environment Bureau, Chengjiaqiao Street, and Xinjing Town

Green Phoenix Butterfly, Blue Phoenix Butterfly, Jade Belt Phoenix Butterfly, Golden Spot Butterfly... There are many local butterfly species in Shanghai, and you can often see them in your habitat garden. "Teacher Tang Min, a guide at Baijia Nature Guide Center, taught community volunteers to observe butterfly species, habits, and other knowledge and methods through storytelling and exquisite butterfly photos.
Aunt Wang, the "Flower Protector," said that in the garden, local plants change throughout the year, attracting various butterflies from early summer to late autumn. They often pick up their phones to freeze the beautiful moments of butterflies staying. However, they still have a lot of knowledge to learn and understand about how to identify butterfly species and protect them.
During the golden autumn season, in the Rong Habitat Garden and Yi Habitat Garden, the honey source plants and host plants needed by local butterflies still grow luxuriantly, with flowers blooming. The scene of butterflies fluttering and dancing is particularly touching.
Butterfly larvae often feed on the leaves of plants such as platycodon grandiflorus, citrus, magnolia, camphor tree, and smirk. Adults like to visit flowers and suck nectar, such as rapeseed flowers, chrysanthemums, February orchids, roses, fennel, and drunken fish grass. In the future, we will take more care of these 'delicacies', so that butterfly butterflies can settle in every year. "... During the event, the guide and community volunteers actively interact to enrich the content The science popularization activity of combining education with entertainment has become a "refueling station" for community volunteers to better maintain and manage their habitats, gardens, flowers, and vegetation to provide "knowledge nutrients" in the future.
In order for community volunteers to witness the "magical" moment, they also received a unique butterfly "blind box" - a butterfly pupa about to emerge. It is reported that in about a week, the butterfly pupa will become a butterfly, but it is not yet known which type of butterfly will emerge. "It's amazing, we need to carefully observe the wonderful process of 'breaking the pupa into a butterfly'
According to reports, relying on the butterfly themed science popularization activities and nature guided activities of the park and society, Chengjiaqiao Street will hold a natural story fair and natural art exhibition in the form of natural notes, photography, handicrafts, etc., to encourage more residents to participate and effectively enhance their sense of participation and happiness.
