Recently, the Capital Airport Customs under Beijing Customs captured vector organisms in the floor gaps and pulley corners of the cargo hold during boarding and quarantine of incoming aircraft. The on-site customs officers immediately guided and supervised the aircraft operator to undergo hygiene treatment, and sent the captured vector organisms to the laboratory for species identification and pathogen testing.

After identification, one of the flies belongs to the family Calliphoridae and the genus Chrysomyidae, which is the first time it has been intercepted at a national port. This fly species does not have a Chinese name worldwide, and has been temporarily named "Rotten Gold Fly" after research by authoritative fly experts in China.

It is reported that the golden fly is mainly distributed in Africa and South America and belongs to the category of foreign vector organisms. It is not distributed in China and can mechanically carry various pathogens, which may pose a threat to human health. The interception of the golden fly this time is a result of the customs conducting risk analysis and assessment in advance based on the public health conditions of the aircraft's source area and previous quarantine risks, and carrying out strict and meticulous boarding quarantine on key flights. "Jia Hongbo, Deputy Director of the Logistics Monitoring Department of Capital Airport Customs, introduced the situation.

In recent years, global climate change has led to active reproduction of vector organisms and further spread of distribution areas. The World Health Organization warns countries that due to the impact of climate change, mosquito borne diseases such as dengue fever and chikungunya fever are spreading faster, with a larger impact range and higher epidemic intensity.

From January to September this year, Beijing Customs intercepted a total of 28 batches, 18 types, and 87 imported sexually transmitted vector organisms in the inbound transportation vehicles. Beijing Customs will continue to deepen the construction of a comprehensive prevention and control system for vector organisms at ports, strengthen risk assessment and departmental collaboration, compact the main responsibilities of port operators, strictly control vector density, prevent public health risks at ports, and strengthen the quarantine defense line at ports, "said Wang Kanglin, Director of the Health and Quarantine Department of Beijing Customs.
