On June 13th, according to foreign media reports, an insider revealed that the European Union plans to conditionally approve the acquisition of cloud computing company VMware by US chip manufacturer Broadcom.

Foreign media claim that the EU's approval is related to the interoperability remedies provided by Broadcom to competitors to address competition issues. According to insiders, one of the remedial measures proposed by Broadcom is to focus on the "Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters" (FCHBA), mainly addressing the concerns of competitor MarvellTechnology.

It is reported that the EU's antitrust regulatory agency is scheduled to make a decision on the transaction on July 17th local time, but Broadcom declined to comment.

Last May, Broadcom officially announced its plan to acquire VMware for $61 billion in cash and stock. In terms of acquisition size, this transaction is second only to Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard and Dell's $67 billion acquisition of EMC. Subsequently, multiple regulators investigated whether the transaction would cause competition in Relevant market.
