Kunqu Opera, Guqin Art, Uyghur Muqam of Xinjiang... Today, 43 projects in China have been included in the UNESCO Intangible cultural heritage List. How to truly experience these intangible cultural heritage projects? What is their current inheritance situation? How do veteran artists lead their apprentices? Recently, in the exhibition hall of the National Library, visitors can scan the QR code on the display board to watch videos of multiple intangible cultural heritage inheritors showcasing their skills and learn about these contents.

On the 18th China's Cultural Heritage Day, the National Library launched a series of activities, "Aging, Technology, Memory Forever - the 5th Exhibition Month of the Achievements of the Recording Work of Representative Inheritors of National Intangible cultural heritage and the Special Exhibition of the Achievements of Inheritors of China's List of Intangible cultural heritage and List Projects". The event is mainly held at the National Library, with over 220 libraries of all levels and types nationwide holding joint exhibitions and screenings.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. This special exhibition focuses on the two main themes of "Human Heritage, Chinese Wisdom" and "Filing Records, Performance Practice", sorting out China's achievements in the field of intangible cultural heritage protection and filing records over the past 20 years, showcasing the unique charm and progress made in the protection and inheritance of 43 projects included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List and Register.

The 68 films showcased in the special exhibition all come from the representative achievements of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Inheritor Recording Project. These include the "Chinese traditional tea making techniques and related customs", which was listed in the List of Representative Works of Intangible cultural heritage of Humanity in 2022, and the Qiang, Li traditional textile, dyeing, weaving and embroidery techniques, Chinese traditional wood arch bridge construction techniques, Meshrep, Chinese Movable type and other projects that rarely come into public view.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Recording Project - The recording work of representative inheritors of national intangible cultural heritage is a race against time. Due to the fact that most inheritors have entered their twilight years, many projects in the project have left their final images. By showcasing the recorded results, these precious visual works can be presented to the public, and these works will be permanently preserved as national literature resources. As of now, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Recording Project has carried out the recording of over 1800 inheritors and completed the recording of 1040 of them.
