On July 5th, according to foreign media reports, the British appeals court rejected Apple's appeal, claiming that Apple's iPhone and iPad devices violated two 4G communication patents of the US patent company Optis. Therefore, Apple still needs to pay $7 billion in compensation.

The court also stated that it was correct to dismiss Apple's claim that there was no infringement of patent rights, and there were no issues with the High Court in determining whether the two patents belonged to standard core patents.

In 2019, Optis sued Apple in the UK, alleging that Apple's iPhone product violated two of its 4G patents. The High Court of London ruled in March 2022, declaring that the two 4G patents owned by Optis were standard essential patents, and that Apple had infringed on these patents.

In May 2022, Apple filed an appeal claiming that the patents in the lawsuit were not essential patents for the 4G standard, and the company did not infringe on these patents.

It is worth noting that previously, Apple also stated that it would be difficult to accept if the UK still demanded $7 billion in compensation and would consider exiting the UK.
