Amazon Cloud Technology Enhances the Chinese Market: AI Technology Breaks the Circle and Seeks New Changes
For Amazon Cloud Technology, China is one of the most strategically important regions in the world. This has been the case in the past and will continue to be the case in the future
For Amazon Cloud Technology, China is one of the most strategically important regions in the world. This has been the case in the past and will continue to be the case in the future. "At the recently held Amazon Cloud Technology China Summit, Amazon Cloud Technology CEO Adam Selipsky bluntly stated that for Amazon Cloud Technology, the Chinese market has an important strategic position.
At this year's two-day China Summit, it can be seen from the guests, speech content, and other aspects that Amazon Cloud Technology attaches great importance to the Chinese market. Zhang Wenyi, Global Vice President of Amazon and Executive Director of Amazon Cloud Technology in Greater China, spent two and a half hours elaborating on Amazon Cloud Technology's views on generative AI, the demand trends of Chinese enterprises, and the new opportunities brought by technological development. Matt Wood, Vice President of Global Products at Amazon Cloud Technology, personally came to China to introduce Amazon Cloud Technology's exploration of generative AI technology to Chinese enterprises.
In fact, with the outbreak of global generative AI this year, artificial intelligence technology has completely broken the cycle, bringing a historical turning point in the large-scale adoption of machine learning. In China, this trend is more evident, and corresponding demand is also skyrocketing.
Zhang Wenyi, who has been in charge of the Chinese market for a long time, is more direct about this: "Generative AI is setting off a new round of technological revolution, bringing unprecedented subversive, revolutionary and epic influence to mankind, which is far beyond our imagination today. The scope, depth and breadth of this revolution may only be comparable to the outbreak of the Internet. This also means a huge historical opportunity."
In Zhang Wenyi's view, "The big model is not all about generative AI, but rather a fundamental platform of the generative AI ecosystem. The mission of the platform is to make it easier for people to build machine learning applications on it and use generative AI to solve their specific field or industry scenario problems. This is the key factor that truly changes the industry in the ToB field
Chinese Enterprises Strive for Global Innovation and Change
It is worth noting that at this year's conference, Amazon Cloud Technology released multiple plans for the Chinese market, including the "Amazon Cloud Technology Smart Expo Plan", "Amazon Cloud Technology Sustainable Development Partnership Plan", "Partner Solution Factory and Customer Acquisition Incentive Plan", to further strengthen the "3+3 strategy" of partners.
At the same time, Amazon Cloud Technology teamed up with 28 investment and industrial institutions to jointly launch the "Amazon Cloud Technology Entrepreneurship Accelerator" to help startups accelerate their growth.
In the view of Amazon Cloud Technology, the paradigm and path of Chinese enterprises going overseas are rapidly upgrading. This path upgrade, in simple terms, is from physical goods trade to establishing product brands, gradually upgrading to entertainment, consumption, and pan life experiences. Throughout this process, the upgrading of software capabilities in Chinese enterprises and the strengthening of their understanding of global consumers remain unchanged.
Among them, startups are a type of development that deserves attention. Zhang Wenyi said, "Startups play an indispensable role in the rapid iteration, innovative development, and industry application of digital technology." She said that in the current era of generative AI, startups will play a greater role in helping various industries better and faster embrace and apply this technology.
It is understood that the smart charging brand Anke has experienced the process of Chinese manufacturing enterprises from the initial entity export trade to the establishment of Private label. In this process, their requirements for new product development, quality control, and overseas after-sales service are all increasing. Based on its cooperation with Amazon Cloud Technology, Anke has utilized a large number of services from Amazon Cloud Technology, effectively supporting its overseas operations, customer analysis, customer service SaaS, and more.
In addition to physical goods, entertainment/consumer applications have been accelerating to sea in recent years, such as globally popular BUD, Gemsouls, etc., which are very representative enterprises. They have all put forward new requirements for local cultural perception and local product experience. Amazon Cloud Technology often conducts workshops targeting overseas user experiences, which have also received high praise from entrepreneurs.
The current popularity of generative AI and the deployment of smart cars further pose new requirements for Chinese entrepreneurs. Both AI generated content and the interactive experience inside the car cabin have penetrated into the pan life and consumption experience of consumers in destination countries. These put forward higher requirements for data compliance, personal privacy protection, goodwill and Brand management.
This has also made the generative AI field a track for a large number of startups to target deep cultivation.
Hu Ying, Director of Startup Ecology and Investment Business Development for Amazon Cloud Technology Greater China, told reporters that Amazon Cloud Technology has been supporting entrepreneurs in China for over five years and globally for over ten years. Currently, one quarter of Amazon Cloud Technology's China team has a background in venture capital institutions, and one third has experience as a founder or co founder of a startup. This also enables Amazon Cloud Technology to better communicate and collaborate with Chinese startups.
Generative AI Brings New Development
At the beginning of this year, Amazon Cloud Technology relied on its own technological accumulation to release a series of AI big models and self-developed AI chips to help enterprises solve the landing problem of scenario applications. Currently, from a global market perspective, Amazon Cloud Technology and Microsoft are the two leading companies in the cloud computing industry. According to SynergyResearch Group, Amazon Cloud's share in the global cloud infrastructure market reached 32% in the first quarter of 2023, ranking first.
Due to Microsoft's "first hand" investment in generative AI technology, some argue that Amazon Cloud Technology has not taken the lead in generative AI technology. However, in China, with the entry of technology giants, startups, research institutions, and universities, the competition in the field of generative AI technology has become increasingly fierce.
In an interview with reporters, Matt Wood believed that "the development of generative AI is like a marathon race. When the race just starts, it is obviously not scientific to judge the result of the race only in the first three or four steps. This is a long-distance race, and we are still in a very early stage, we need to wait and see
Gu Fan, General Manager of the Strategic Business Development Department of Amazon Cloud Technology in Greater China, also holds the same view. In his opinion, there will not be a situation where a big model takes all of the market, and the diversity of AI big models is crucial for ecological development.
How to unlock the greater value of generative AI? Matt Wood believes that using Amazon Bedlock to call the model, machine learning innovation, and customizing chips are three feasible paths.
In April of this year, Amazon Cloud Technology launched Amazon Bedlock, which provides access to basic models from AI21Labs, Antiopic, StabilityAI, and Amazon through an API (Application Programming Interface) to build generative AI driven applications.
At the same time, technological innovation ensures that users can safely and confidently optimize and fine tune models, and provides code generation services for developers based on machine learning, Amazon CodeWhisperer.
It is worth noting that Amazon Cloud Technology seems to have taken the lead in the field of self-developed AI chips. Since the launch of the first Amazon Nitro chip in 2013, Amazon Cloud Technology has been the first cloud manufacturer to venture into self-developed chips, with three product lines: network chips, server chips, and artificial intelligence machine learning self-developed chips.
And self-developed customized chips will help Amazon Cloud Technology partners achieve low-cost and low latency training and inference of basic models.
In the view of Wang Chengfeng, Chief research officer of IResearch Consulting Group Consulting, the China Summit highlights Amazon Cloud Technology's continuous efforts in cloud and AI fields. Especially in the recently hotly debated AIGC field, Amazon Cloud Technology places greater emphasis on empowering customers and partners with its own technical capabilities and best practices for AIGC business development. Through more flexible, agile, and low threshold products such as Amazon Bedlock and Amazon CodeWhisper, it accelerates the popularization of AIGC technology and explores its value in more industry scenarios, committed to becoming the "behind the scenes" and "digital base" in the AIGC world.
The big model is not all about generative AI, but rather a fundamental platform of the generative AI ecosystem. The mission of the platform is to make it easier for people to build machine learning applications on it, and to use generative AI to solve their specific field or industry scenario problems. This is the key factor that truly changes the industry in the ToB field, "said Zhang Wenyi In today's era where opportunities and challenges coexist, enterprises need to look at the entire world, target global users and markets, actively seek change, and seek new blue oceans, new tracks, and new opportunities
