Yangcheng Evening News reporter Wu Yizhen, correspondent Yang Xiaoli and Wen Yuyue photographed and reported that on the afternoon of the 21st, the reporter learned from the Heyuan Dinosaur Museum that dinosaur Egg fossil were first found in the Heyuan Lighthouse Basin. At present, the Heyuan Dinosaur Museum has contacted relevant experts for further research.

It is understood that Qiu Wenyu, a veteran of Heyuan, found a suspected dinosaur Egg fossil at a construction site in Jinsan Road, National Agricultural High tech Zone, Heyuan Lighthouse Basin on the 20th. Huang Zhiqing, the office director of the Heyuan Dinosaur Research Institute, received Qiu Wenyu's phone call that night and made a preliminary judgment by observing the pictures. Together with Du Yanli, the curator and associate research librarian of the Heyuan Museum, they led the researchers to the site to carry out excavation and analysis on the morning of the 21st. After a day's efforts, the earth around the dinosaur Egg fossil was excavated. At present, staff have transported the fossils back to the restoration site of the Heyuan Dinosaur Research Institute and organized researchers to conduct a detailed investigation in the area.

Huang Zhiqing said that this was the first time that dinosaur Egg fossil were found in the Lighthouse Basin, and the specific types of dinosaur Egg fossil found would not be confirmed until Dr. Wang Qiang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences sliced and analyzed them. Previously, 12 dinosaur Egg fossil of 11 genera and 5 families have been identified in Heyuan. The dinosaur Egg fossil first found in the Lighthouse Basin are round and oval, and the eggs are small. It is not sure whether they are new dinosaur Egg fossil.

Du Yanli said that if a new genus and species are discovered this time, it will be a new breakthrough, which plays an important role in studying the local paleogeography, paleoclimate, and other aspects. He also called on the general public not to excavate the suspected dinosaur Egg fossil in the area to avoid destroying the fossils.
