On July 18, the opening ceremony of the fourth Gansu Youth Creative Programming and Intelligent design Competition was held in Gansu Science and Technology Museum, sponsored by Gansu Science and Technology Association, Gansu Provincial Department of Education, Gansu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and organized by Gansu Science and Technology Museum (Gansu Youth Science and Technology Activity Center) and Gansu Youth Science and Technology Education Association.

The theme of this competition is "Technology achieves dreams, AI creates the future". There are over 100000 participants in the province, with a total of 18 representative teams of students from 14 cities, prefectures, and primary and secondary schools participating.

Based on the 3896 entries submitted by various cities and prefectures in the province, the competition organizing committee conducted qualification review, expert preliminary evaluation, and quota selection on the entries, and ultimately determined that 701 entries were nominated for the final evaluation display.

It is reported that the purpose of this competition is to educate young people on the addition of scientific education in the "double reduction", stimulate their curiosity, imagination, and curiosity, and cultivate a group of young people with the potential of scientists who are willing to devote themselves to scientific research. The contest is a popular science event to popularize programming knowledge, promote Intelligent design skills, and intensively display and exchange scientific and technological innovation achievements for the majority of young people in the province. It undertakes the task of finding and cultivating scientific and technological innovation talents. Since its holding in 2019, the competition has played a leading role in the artificial intelligence science popularization activities for young people in our province, and has received widespread attention and recognition from all sectors of society. It has become a brand activity for youth technology education in our province.

The reporter learned from the Gansu Provincial Youth Activity Center that compared to previous years, this year has moved the competition from online to offline for the first time, adding innovative elements to the richer content of the competition. On the one hand, to ensure the fairness, impartiality, and openness of the evaluation work. In this competition, the organizing committee hired 25 experts to form a competition evaluation committee for the final evaluation of the works. On the other hand, innovation has been made in the event organization process to further enhance the technological experience of the competition. For example, at the opening ceremony, a robot called "Aibao" was added to host the event; Closed questioning and on-site skill testing have been embedded in improving hands-on operation skills and final evaluation, based on themes, on-site construction, and other content.

After two days of intense competition, the final evaluation expert committee composed of 25 judges conducted professional evaluation and on-site debate on 701 finalists according to project classification. Through comprehensive closed debate results and skill test results, 105 first prizes, 246 second prizes, and 284 third prizes were selected. 14 units, including Northwest Normal University Affiliated Middle School, won the Excellent Organization Award.

The relevant person in charge of the Provincial Association for Science and Technology told reporters that the successful hosting of this competition will further stimulate and cultivate the spirit of young people advocating science, pursuing true knowledge, and pioneering and enterprising.
