Adhering to the positioning of "patient-centered", how to build a smart hospital

As an inevitable trend in the future development of the medical industry, the construction of smart hospitals can not only improve the efficiency and quality of medical services, alleviate the problem of difficult and expensive medical treatment for the people, but also serve as an important means of modern hospital management.
From a practical perspective, with the rapid development of information technology and the digital transformation of the medical industry, more and more medical institutions are exploring the construction of smart hospitals.
The think tank research project of the Shanghai European and American Student Association Research Center has found that currently, the construction mode of most smart hospitals can be summarized as "from point to surface", which starts from local information transformation and advances towards the overall goal of transforming the Internet and integrating intelligence.
The patient-centered implementation of the optimization project for the medical treatment process is the first "point" of concern for the intelligent construction of many hospitals. In recent years, major hospitals across the country have implemented the "handheld hospital service", which has optimized the medical process, improved the efficiency of medical consultation, and is conducive to meeting the growing demand for high-quality services from the people. Remote consultation and surgery have also made it possible to achieve equalization of medical resources.
However, overall, the construction of smart hospitals in China is still in its early stages, and there are some problems and challenges, such as unclear positioning of smart hospital construction, lack of clear operational models and technical architecture, etc. The question of "what to build, how to build, and when to build" urgently needs to be answered.
At present, under the guidance of participants in software, hardware, and networks, the construction of smart hospitals is often roughly understood as achieving full coverage of network signals, deploying intelligent terminal equipment or service systems, etc. Hospitals are often limited to "following the trend" to meet new needs, and are easily led by them, resulting in high investment and low output expectations, as well as blind and repetitive construction and other waste of medical resources.
Think tank research suggests that the top priority for the construction of smart hospitals is to clarify their positioning, and breakthroughs can be made in top-level design, innovative construction models, reshaping the industrial chain ecosystem, and reforming governance mechanisms, in order to achieve high-quality coupling development between smart hospital construction and related industrial chains.
Firstly, improve the top-level design and clarify the positioning of smart hospital construction. On the one hand, it is necessary to clarify the direction of smart hospital construction at the national level and provide policy guidance; On the other hand, it is necessary to clarify the current development trend of smart hospitals in the country at the hospital level, understand the functional advantages of smart hospitals, establish awareness of smart hospital construction, and set a good example for smart hospital construction.
The positioning of smart hospitals in China should be a new type of medical service institution centered around patients, supported by information technology, centered on optimizing medical service processes, and aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of medical services. The construction of smart hospitals should be distinguished from traditional hospitals, clarifying their service objects, scenarios, and values to meet the growing medical service needs of the people.
Secondly, optimize the governance structure and innovate the construction model of smart hospitals. The construction of smart hospitals in China should explore operational models and technical frameworks that are in line with their own characteristics. In terms of operational models, five models can be considered: cloud computing based medical resource sharing model, big data based precision medical service model, artificial intelligence based intelligent diagnosis and treatment model, internet-based remote medical model, and IoT based intelligent medical facility model.
Thirdly, innovate governance methods and explore the construction path of smart hospitals. Increase policy support to provide solid support for the construction of smart hospitals, and work together at the national and local government levels; Increase technological innovation, empower the construction of smart hospitals, and achieve the sharing and optimization of medical resources through cloud computing technology, big data technology, artificial intelligence technology, and Internet of Things technology, thereby improving the efficiency and quality of medical services; Promote management optimization, promote the optimization of medical processes, improve medical quality, and ensure medical safety, and improve the efficient and high-quality construction of smart hospitals; Increasing financial support is the foundation for the smooth construction of smart hospitals. The construction of smart hospitals requires a large amount of capital investment, including government investment, social capital, and other multi-channel funding sources. Government investment should mainly be used for the infrastructure construction and key technology research and development of smart hospitals, providing basic guarantees for the construction of smart hospitals. Social capital can participate in the construction of smart hospitals through investment, cooperation, and other means. Through market-oriented operations, social capital can be attracted to invest in the construction of smart hospitals, providing strong support for their development.
