The river water drawn from the Han River, the largest tributary of the Yangtze River, passed through the nearly 100 kilometer Qinling Tunnel and supplied the Wei River, the largest tributary of the Yellow River, thus achieving the "hand in hand" between the Yangtze River and the Yellow River in Guanzhong.
This project, known as the Shaanxi version of the "South to North Water Diversion", has a total investment of approximately 51.6 billion yuan. Currently, the first phase of the project has been basically completed, and the second phase has been partially completed. After all the projects are completed and put into use, they will meet the domestic and industrial water needs of cities in the Guanzhong area of Xi'an, Xianyang, Weinan, Yangling, and other areas. The total area of the water receiving area is 14000 square kilometers, with a beneficiary population of 14.11 million people and an additional urban water supply of 5 million people.
