I got it from the first round this year, so I have been using the 15ProMax for two weeks now.

Below, I will summarize the advantages and disadvantages of this phone in the new design based on my personal real user experience.

weight

Just after opening the box, you can clearly feel the lightness after getting started, much lighter than the previous generation of the 14ProMax. Especially when answering phone calls or lying in bed brushing videos, your wrists and little fingers feel very relaxed.

Anti fingerprint

For the first time this year, it has been changed to a titanium brushed frame, which is not only lightweight but also almost free from fingerprints. As a sweaty hand myself, I almost played with my phone for a while. The shiny stainless steel of the previous 14ProMax is obviously very greasy, but the 15ProMax looks very clean except for being stained with small water droplets.

However, it seems that the situation with dark blue and black fingerprints is quite serious. It is recommended to buy white or primary colors instead.

So, unlike other people's views on border materials, I believe that this year we have decisively abandoned the bulky and fingerprint prone glossy stainless steel and switched to titanium metal, which is actually a design that returns to practicality and enhances user experience, and is worthy of recognition.

Larger 8GB running memory

This year, after 3 years, the number has increased from 6GB to 8GB for the first time. It has been tested that running iOS17 simultaneously is indeed smoother and more delicate than 14ProMax, and the phenomenon of killing the background has significantly improved. However, in the extreme situation of taking photos and opening more large applications in the background, there may still be occasional instances of killing the background.

Let's talk about the USB-C interface at the bottom again.

To be honest, I am not very satisfied with the experience of the USB-C interface this year, mainly in terms of charging speed and reliability, and I feel that it is not as good as the lighting interface.

As for the 15ProMax, the charging speed is actually slower than the previous generation 14ProMax. I think the reason is because the 15ProMax has an extra battery capacity, but the charging power is still around 20W, so it's easy to understand.

Moreover, when plugging and unplugging chargers in my daily life, I found that the USB-C is more loose, not as tight and reliable as the previous lighting interface.

So overall, the USB-C interface has been upgraded, but it seems that the improvement is not as significant, but rather a bit backward.

The reason is simple. On the one hand, the 15ProMax does not have the maximum fast charging advantage of USB-C, and on the other hand, its ultra fast data transmission speed is rarely used in our daily lives.

Guess what, you might want to use it as an upgrade point for the iPhone 16 series next year?

New mute key

The mute button has been changed to a press type this year, and can also be customized with various functions, such as flashlights, cameras, etc., and supports one click quick start.

But it looks cool, but its practicality is poor.

Because you need to know its position is above the volume+button, ProMax users with smaller hands can't even reach the volume up button. Do you still have them press the mute button further away every day?

So in my daily use, I still set it as the mute button, and the frequency of use is not high.

New telephoto

To be honest, the new 5x telephoto performance added to this year's ProMax is really impressive in outdoor light conditions.

However, the absence of the original triple length coke is really worth roast, because this coke section is very practical in our daily life, whether it is for photographing people or objects, landscapes, etc., and can be called the "golden coke section".

However, this time, in order to increase the 15ProMax to 5x telephoto, it is not cost-effective to discard the previously better 3x telephoto segment, purely for the sake of upgrading. To be honest, I can't understand.

Several major drawbacks

The battery life is not very good. To be honest, the 15ProMax comes with the built-in iOS 17.0.2 system. I don't know if it's due to the high processor power consumption this year or the need for optimization in the early iOS 17 system. The overall battery life is not even as good as the 14ProMax I bought last year, and the battery life of the 15ProMax is actually larger than that of the 14ProMax, which I can't understand again.

The signal performance is still half impressive, but it is better than that of the 12ProMax. At the very least, the 5G speed and stability are basically guaranteed, and there will be no sudden network outages. However, occasional phone calls and signal drops to 1 grid still exist, and there are many fewer instances of no service.

Fever, the initial version of iOS17 was still not very stable, with occasional fever and fast power loss. There were also many small stutters and frame drops in the system, but future versions should be able to solve them, but everyone needs to be patient and wait.

It is not recommended for old iPhone users to upgrade to iOS17 here, even with the 14ProMax, as it does not add much practical features compared to iOS16, and instead becomes more bulky, occasionally getting hot and encountering various small problems. We sincerely recommend waiting for the official version of iOS17.1, as it is the first major version of iOS17 and has higher overall stability.

In other words, you need to spend tens of thousands of yuan to purchase many unused features, but I don't think it's cost-effective.

If you are a user of 12Pro or earlier, it is highly recommended to upgrade.

But if you are a 13Pro or 14Pro user and your phone battery is still good and can last for almost a day, it is recommended to wait for the 16Pro series.
