Robots Accelerate Integration into Production and Life

Robots do household chores and also serve as interpreters.

Robots do household chores and also serve as interpreters... Recently, at the 8th China Robotics Summit, well-known brands competed to showcase the latest applications of robots, and multiple cutting-edge technologies made stunning appearances, attracting attendees to stop and watch. Experts believe that the rapid development of China's robotics industry has opened up new avenues for multiple industries, and its governance system also needs to be continuously improved.

Vigorous Development of Intelligent Manufacturing

Entering the BMW Tiexi factory in Shenyang Huachen, several huge orange robots are dancing around. They work according to customized operating trajectories, quickly reaching from one point to another, accurately controlling spot welding accuracy, and automatically replacing welding guns. Entering the 40000 square meter factory building of Sany Heavy Industry Beijing Pile Machinery Factory, robots have taken over most of the dirty, tiring, and heavy work. The sorting of a small steel plate and the assembly of a mast weighing over 10 tons are all automatically completed by robots. The production pace of the "reborn" factory has significantly accelerated, with a monthly production capacity of 300 pile machines.

This is a microcosm of the robot industry empowering Chinese manufacturing. Industrial robots are widely used in China's manufacturing industry. The Research Report on the Development Index of China's Robot Industry released by the Expert Committee of the China Robotics Summit shows that China has become the world's largest application market for robots and the most active country in innovation and development, with industrial robot consumption ranking first in the world for 9 consecutive years. With the deepening of intelligent manufacturing, the application of industrial robots has rapidly expanded from the automotive and electronic industries to industries such as metallurgy, light industry, metal processing, petrochemical, food and beverage, and medicine. The number of industrial robots in China is constantly increasing, and the density of manufacturing robots is showing a growth trend.

Widely used in the service industry

In addition to the manufacturing industry, robots have begun to enter every aspect of people's lives, and the application of service robots is becoming increasingly widespread. At the Intelligent Robot Rehabilitation Center of Shanghai Seventh People's Hospital, robots with different functions such as upper and lower limb rehabilitation are neatly arranged. With the help of the robot's "hands", patients can actively and passively move up, down, left, right, and cooperate with various scenes on the screen, such as grinding flour, frying salmon, and catching small fish, making rehabilitation more accurate and interesting.

Driven by the fusion of various technologies such as artificial intelligence, new sensing, biomimetics, and new materials, robots are still exploring to complete more "impossible tasks" for humans. In terms of deep-sea operations, the deep-sea cable laying robot developed by Shandong Future Robotics has the domestically pioneered intelligent operation capability for deep water, capable of laying underwater optical cables, cables, pipelines, and other tasks that cannot be manually completed in the 1500 meter deep ocean. In terms of polar operations, Shandong Guoxing Intelligent has developed a tracked intelligent reconnaissance robot, which adopts a damping and buffering suspension system with independent intellectual property rights. It has successfully participated in the 38th Antarctic exploration mission.

Dong Kai, Director of the Industrial Policy Research Institute of the China Institute of Electronic Information Industry Development, said that as a daily helper, service robots represented by sweeping robots, cooking robots, accompanying robots, rehabilitation robots, etc. have entered daily life and homes, achieving large-scale applications in fields such as education and entertainment, cleaning services, and medical rehabilitation. As special equipment, special robots are increasingly capable of coping with complex environments with high flexibility, mobility and adaptability. They have achieved innovative applications in emergency disaster relief, fire patrol inspection and other urgent and dangerous tasks, as well as space exploration, marine resources exploration and exploitation, polar scientific research and other major national engineering fields, and have been able to partially or completely replace manual operations, helping to reduce the workload and ensure health and safety.

Strengthening Industry Chain Supply Chain Security

Experts believe that domestic robots have overcome some of the difficulties in fields such as precision reducers and controllers, and the localization rate of products is gradually increasing. However, material research and development, processing technology, and other aspects are still relatively weak. In terms of operating systems and related basic software, domestic industrial robots started relatively late. To achieve parallel and leading in fierce competition, efforts must be made to improve the localization level of robot core components and software, and strengthen the security of the industrial chain supply chain.

Looking ahead to the future, there is still great potential and space for the development of artificial intelligence, and basic theories and key technological fields still need to be explored. Zhao Jie, a professor at Harbin Institute of Technology and director of the Robotics Research Institute, believes that in order for China's robotics industry to pursue a path of high-end and high-quality development, four capabilities are needed as the starting point, namely, the ability to continuously supply innovative foundations, the ability to independently control common technologies of core basic components, the ability to continuously improve the quality and application of major technological equipment, and the ability to support quality infrastructure services.

Industry insiders believe that it is necessary to establish a governance system that includes policies, regulations, ethical norms, technical standards, etc., to integrate ethics and morality into the lifecycle of robots, and better promote the benefits of the robot industry for thousands of businesses.
