On October 17th, the largest brain computer in China, the "Wentian I" class brain computer, was released in Nanjing. It has achieved a scale of over 500 million neurons and 250 billion synaptic intelligence, ranking first in China and at the same level internationally.
Brain like computing, also known as neuromorphic computing, is based on biomimetic pulse neurons to achieve efficient information processing. It has the characteristics of low power consumption and high computing power, and is the breakthrough point for the "next generation of artificial intelligence".
The "Wentian I" class brain computer is independently developed by the Nanjing Institute of Intelligent Technology of China Academy of Sciences. It breaks through key technologies such as computing models, architecture, brain like hardware systems, brain like software systems, and application development based on pulse neural networks, and connects the entire chain of chip architecture, software compilation, algorithm models, and software and hardware systems. It adopts an integrated design of software and hardware systems, Compared to traditional computers in terms of universality and energy efficiency, it has significant advantages, with four highlights: "large scale, high real-time performance, strong flexibility, and closer to the brain mechanism".
At present, the "Wentian I" class brain computer has been officially applied. On the same day, Zhongke Nanjing Intelligent Technology Research Institute signed cooperation projects with five units, including Aerospace Chenguang Co., Ltd., Beijing Superstar Future Technology Co., Ltd., Nanjing Modern Comprehensive Transportation Laboratory, Nanjing Ruijing Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., and Nanjing Hanhai Fuxi Defense Technology Co., Ltd. In the future, deep cooperation will be carried out in fields such as biomedicine, smart transportation, and industrial digital twins.
The "Wentian" brain supercomputing team stated that they will continue to develop a new generation of brain like computers, further innovate the architecture and software system framework of brain like computing chips, create a brain like computing platform that leads future development, and promote the innovative development of new generation artificial intelligence in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, and even the whole country.
On the same day, the third Symposium on Neuromorphic Computing and Asynchronous Integrated Circuit Design, with the theme of "Brain like Computing Leading the Future", was held simultaneously, and the Emerging Computing Chip Special Committee of Jiangsu Integrated Circuit Society was officially unveiled.
In the special report session, Ye Tianchun, chief engineer of the National Science and Technology Major Project 02, and Wang Zuoren, senior researcher of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Brain Science and Intelligent Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, respectively delivered theme reports entitled "Responding to" Anti globalization "with" Re globalization "- Going Out of the Road of Innovation with Chinese Integrated Circuit Characteristics" and "Training Technology of Artificial Intelligence". At the seminar, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs, including Professor Alex Yakovlev from the University of Newcastle, Professor Wan Qing from Nanjing University, and Associate Professor Song Sen from Tsinghua University, delivered presentations.
The event was hosted by the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Development and Construction Management Committee of Nanjing Qilin Science and Technology Innovation Park (Ecological Science and Technology City), and undertaken by the Nanjing Institute of Intelligent Technology.
