Reported on Reference News Network on October 20thAccording to the report of Russian newspaper website on October 18, Japanese scientists found that the human body would be infected within five seconds after being exposed to the viruses (including COVID-19) transmitted through air droplets. Scientists suggest taking preventive measures during this period - hold your breath and stay at least one meter away from the source of infection. This preventive measure can basically eliminate the risk of infection.

A team of scientists from the University of Tsukuba and other universities in Japan has developed a "five second rule" to prevent COVID-19, influenza and other respiratory infections. The British journal Science Reports published the results of this study.

Scientists studied the movement speed of small droplets flying out of the mouth during breathing and speaking. The human body will get sick within five seconds after contacting with the infectious source of COVID-19, influenza or other similar diseases.

Whether people are outdoors or indoors, as long as they come into contact with the source of infection, they will become infected during this time, and the infection rate is faster in well ventilated rooms.

This study utilized laser devices and high-speed cameras. During the experiment, researchers used a special instrument that can display the movement speed of liquid molecules in the air in the form of images.

The researchers simulated different living scenarios and movement speeds, and considered indoor ventilation during the study period.

Based on the data obtained, the researchers suggest shortening the time of close contact with people to less than five seconds, and holding your breath when contacting potential virus carriers to reduce the possibility of COVID-19 spreading through air droplets. In addition, researchers also recommend maintaining a physical distance of at least one meter.

Experts believe that taking preventive measures within the first five seconds of contact with humans can basically eliminate the risk of infection with viruses transmitted through airborne droplets.
