On October 21st, the Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Forum, a parallel forum of the "East Lake Forum," was held in Wuhan, Hubei. The "Global Enterprise Innovation Index Report 2023" was first released, comprehensively analyzing new trends in global enterprise development from three dimensions: knowledge creation, technological innovation, and innovation collaboration.

Artificial intelligence, as a key technology leading technological innovation, is an important driving force for building a new engine of the digital economy and achieving high-quality development. Developing the digital economy is a strategic choice to seize the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation opportunities.

Currently, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is reshaping the global innovation landscape and reshaping the global economic layout. Hubei is a major province in science and education, with abundant soil for scientific and technological innovation and a solid foundation for artificial intelligence innovation. It will fully leverage Hubei's advantages in science and education resources, accelerate the construction of a national leading area for building a new development pattern, and reflect Hubei's role in promoting the accelerated rise of the central region.

On site, Professor Bai Xiang from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology shared cutting-edge perspectives on the development of artificial intelligence industry and scene text detection and recognition technology, and proposed an industrial defect detection method based on visual and language models. He stated that computer vision will have great potential in industrial quality inspection.

At the forum, Wuhan University and the China Institute of Science and Technology Information jointly released the Global Enterprise Innovation Index 2023. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of enterprises in five fields, including global new energy, biopharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, new materials, and next-generation information technology. The aim is to use objective data and quantitative methods to systematically depict the global technological innovation development pattern of strategic emerging industries today.

The report shows that China's Huawei has entered the top 10 global rankings in four industries: new energy, advanced manufacturing, new materials, and next-generation information technology, ranking 5th, 8th, 6th, and 2nd respectively. In addition, State Grid of China ranks second globally in the new energy industry, while Sinopec ranks 11th globally in the new materials industry. The Asian region has broken the traditional duopoly of Europe and America, and basically formed a tripartite balance of "East Asia North America Europe".

It is reported that the forum is hosted by Hubei Institute of Science and Technology Information, School of Information Management at Wuhan University, Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., School of Information and Communication at National Defense University of Science and Technology, School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Changjiang Institute of Science and Technology Innovation Strategy.
