Reasons for the lack of senior technicians

The shortage of skilled workers has always been a problem in our country. Although the country has carried out reforms at the national strategic level in recent years, it has missed the golden development period, and even some skilled workers are still working in the 1980s. However, this generation of skilled workers after 60.70 can no longer work, and some technical faults are inevitable! For example, the old generation of technicians used to grind group drills, but now our generation of technicians cannot use them anymore. There is also an older generation of technicians who distinguish the properties of carbon steel based on sparks, which is no longer needed.

Although the industry is upgrading rapidly now, some small factories lack technical talents, which has led to a decreasing market effect for their products. For example, the small factory I am currently working in still uses the previous method of drawing lines and making foreign punches to process parts. The products developed over ten years have good market performance, but the results are not ideal. I use ordinary digital milling machines to bring in external precision machining methods to process parts. In the past, they didn't need to divide the center rod and used a drill bit to touch the number, resulting in some holes that needed high-precision machining always being misaligned.

The integration of industry, academia, and research is the best development direction. The old level 8 worker system was abolished after the reform and opening up, which is the best way to establish a skilled worker in accordance with our national conditions. Previously, skilled workers took the exam every six months, and both the practical operation and written exams were taken simultaneously. After passing the exam, they received a salary increase, but it was only because they were not proficient in their studies. In that era, an old eighth level master was even better than the factory director, which was the best reward for technical talents. Nowadays, some foreign and state-owned enterprises have decent treatment, but most small factory owners still treat skilled workers as regular workers. This means that the current employment environment is like a football, and there is a shortage of low-end talents because the wages are too low, and no one is willing to work. It takes 10 or even 20 years to cultivate high-end talents, and there is a shortage of high-end talents!

In the 1990s, universities expanded their enrollment, resulting in a plethora of college students everywhere. However, the talent needed by factories was not cultivated by the schools! At that time, vocational colleges were suppressed, resulting in a sharp decline in the quality of their education. However, the apprenticeship system of some foreign and private enterprises in coastal areas trained a large number of skilled workers! With the bankruptcy of old state-owned enterprises in inland cities, old workers are losing their jobs and new workers are being trained in old methods.
