Prepare the rotary drilling rig, excavate! "The person in charge of the work ordered, and the rotary drilling bit began to dig downwards. At the construction site, various construction machinery roared, and the pilot construction of the first tower foundation for the Sichuan section of the Jinshang Hubei UHV project was in full swing.

The Jinshang Hubei UHV Project is the highest UHV DC transmission project in the world at present, which mainly transmits the power of hydropower units in the upstream of Jinsha River to Central China. The total length of the line is 1901 kilometers, passing through four provinces (cities, autonomous regions) of Tibet, Sichuan, Chongqing, and Hubei. 1913 new iron towers will be built, and it is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2025.

According to Wu Changli, Deputy Director of the Jinshang Line Chuanzhong Section Project Branch of State Grid Sichuan Construction Company, this is the first ultra-high voltage direct current project to enter the hinterland of the Sichuan Tibet Plateau. Among them, the highest elevation of the Sichuan section of the line is 4800 meters, and the maximum ice cover is 60 millimeters; Crossing high mountains and steep mountains with a length of nearly 450 kilometers, the construction process will face dual challenges of terrain, topography, and construction technology.

The Jinshang Hubei ultra-high voltage project is a key project to implement the national energy strategy and promote energy transformation. After the completion of the project, it is expected to transmit nearly 40 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually to central China, equivalent to one sixth of the annual electricity consumption in Hubei Province, which can better achieve full capacity

The surplus and shortage of national power supply complement each other and complement each other in time and space, effectively enhancing the power supply capacity of the central and southwest power grids, ensuring energy security, and having significant significance for ensuring power supply, promoting transformation, stable growth, and promoting development.
