The National Postal Administration released data today (1st), stating that as of May 31, China's express delivery business has exceeded 50 billion units since the beginning of this year. The volume of express delivery business has steadily increased, from breaking 10 billion pieces in 39 days to breaking 50 billion pieces in 5 months. Why can the business volume of the express delivery industry grow by an average of "tens of billions" per month? What changes have taken place in urban and rural consumption?
Every afternoon at 1 pm, the passenger and freight postal service bus loaded with packages will stop at the passenger and freight postal service point in Yalinqiao Village, Linli County, Hunan Province on time. Yalinqiao Village, located at the junction of the three counties, had only a postal pick-up point before the service point was opened. To pick up packages sent by other courier companies, one needs to go to a nearby town.
At the logistics center of Linli County, the reporter saw that postal and social express packages were uniformly distributed here, carried by rural buses, and delivered to all service points in the villages along the way. This not only achieved 100% coverage of express delivery in the village, but also achieved the same day delivery of mail within the county, and the same day delivery of mail out of the county, increasing the delivery time by over 40%.
Tian Yun, a villager from Yalinqiao Village, She Shiqiao Town, Linli County, Changde City:All daily necessities and small household appliances are quite convenient to buy online, and the prices are also cheap.
Since the beginning of this year, express delivery companies have been continuously sinking their service networks, stimulating rural consumption vitality, and helping to gradually release online consumption demand in urban and rural areas. In the first four months, the online retail sales of physical goods in China reached 3716.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%, accounting for 24.8% of the total retail sales of consumer goods in society.
Kang Shaoyong, the person in charge of the customer, freight and postal service point in Yalinqiao Village, Linli County, Changde City:Since establishing a customer, freight, and mail service point, I have been very busy every day. The shampoo, clothes, and cosmetics outside have all entered the village, and the eggs, oranges, and bacon in the village are sent out. When there are many, we can send out over 1000 orders every day.
According to data from the National Postal Administration, a total of 990 county-level public delivery centers and 278000 village level express delivery service stations have been established nationwide. 95% of established villages in the country have achieved express delivery service coverage, and nearly 2500 intermodal postal routes have been opened. 31 provinces have comprehensively carried out postal and express cooperation, with a year-on-year increase of 115% in express delivery. Over 100 million express packages flow in rural areas every day, reflecting the positive trend of China's consumer market recovery.
Lin Hu, Deputy Director of the Market Regulation Department of the National Postal Administration:Behind the monthly average growth of tens of billions of yuan in express delivery business, it not only demonstrates the strong growth and development resilience of the postal express delivery industry, but also reflects the trend of accelerating the release of consumer market demand and vibrant economic development in China since the beginning of this year.
Integrating Warehouse and Distribution to Create a New Space for Express Delivery Development
The booming express delivery industry has not only stimulated the prosperity and vitality of urban and rural consumer markets, but also stimulated new driving forces for industrial integration, bringing benefits to the development of other industries and a virtuous cycle of supply and demand. How can the express delivery industry cultivate new growth points in helping to smooth the economic microcirculation?
CCTV reporter Li Xiaohu:At the Yuantong Express Hejian sorting center, an e-commerce live broadcast is currently underway. The local glass products are very famous, and glass tea sets, water cups, and other products are very popular.
During the investigation, the reporter found that dealers have moved e-commerce live streaming rooms and warehouses into express delivery factories. After consumers take photos of their desired products, the courier company immediately processes them on the sorting platform next door. With a distance of only 100 meters apart, there is a seamless connection between "carrying goods" and "shipping".
Wang Yingying, E-commerce Director of Hejian Chuangqi Glass Products Co., Ltd.:Previously, the courier would go to our factory to collect the package and then deliver it to our central branch. Now, we directly deliver the goods to the (courier) center. The 48 hour acquisition rate has increased from over 80% before to around 98% now, greatly improving customers' shopping experience.
In response to the characteristics of easy damage and high transportation requirements of glass products, express delivery companies have customized protective items such as multi-layer corrugated cardboard boxes and bubble films to prevent impact. While providing personalized services, point-to-point loading and unloading are also carried out through conveyor belts and telescopic machines on sorting machines. Not only does it reduce the rate of product damage, but it also achieves cost reduction and efficiency increase for enterprises.
Qi Ruixi, Manager of Yuantong Express Hejian Branch:Originally, the same goods would require about 30 people (sorting), but now 15 people are enough, which can save about half of the manpower. The efficiency has significantly improved.
Lin Hu, Deputy Director of the Market Regulation Department of the National Postal Administration:By extending services to the production process, the express delivery industry and manufacturing industry are further integrated, which not only helps to reduce costs and increase efficiency for manufacturing enterprises, but also helps express delivery improve the supply chain capacity of the service industry chain and explore new market space.
Improve the express delivery hub system and create a high-quality service network
Since the beginning of this year, the express delivery business volume has exceeded 10 billion pieces in 39 days, 20 billion pieces in 67 days, 30 billion pieces in 96 days, 40 billion pieces in 124 days, and 50 billion pieces in 151 days. With the continuous increase in business volume, express delivery has also achieved new speeds.
In the Airport Economic Industrial Park in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province, the Southwest Headquarters project of Zhongtong Express has entered the final stage of main construction.
Zhang Jian, General Manager of Zhongtong Express Sichuan Management Center:After the project is put into operation, we expect to save 4% on logistics costs and increase the delivery time of the entire Southwest (regional express) by 6 hours.
Three kilometers away from the park, one of the two newly built expressways leading to Tianfu International Airport is ready for operation, and the other is about to be completed. Jianyang has also jointly planned a Shuanggang Avenue Expressway connecting the Chengdu Chongqing Middle Line High Speed Railway, the park, and Tianfu International Airport with the Eastern New Area of Chengdu.
The convenient transportation has attracted many logistics enterprises to cluster together. In the industrial park, the reporter saw that there are a total of 19 express e-commerce base projects that have been put into operation and are under construction.
Sun Yixin, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Jianyang Airport Economic Industrial Park:We are constantly building platforms to enable logistics and e-commerce enterprises to continuously integrate resources, reduce setbacks, and save costs.
During the investigation, the reporter also found that the air routes are also being encrypted. On June 2nd, JD.com will open a new route from Weihai to Hangzhou, as well as an international cargo terminal at Ezhou Huahu Airport. It has opened six domestic and international routes. China Post has signed a purchase agreement with Xiamen Airlines for 9 aircraft. As of now, the entire industry has 161 domestic express delivery dedicated cargo planes.
Lin Hu, Deputy Director of the Market Regulation Department of the National Postal Administration:Postal and express delivery enterprises have increased their infrastructure construction in hubs in the central and western regions, improved their ground network layout, and established and cultivated independent, controllable, safe, and reliable route networks and cargo collection capabilities. While promoting cost reduction and efficiency increase in freight transportation, they have also enhanced the connectivity and stability of the entire industry network, helping to upgrade the industry's transportation capacity and achieve high-quality development.
