Science and Technology Daily, Pretoria, June 13 (Reporter Feng Zhiwen) With the support of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products, the South Africa China Economic and Trade Association and the South African Investment Agency jointly hosted the China South Africa New Energy Investment Cooperation Conference at Johannesburg Thornton International Convention Center. Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Chen Xiaodong, South African Minister of State owned Enterprises Gordan, and President's Office Minister of Electricity Ramohopa attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. South African Ambassador to China Xie Shengwen delivered a video speech. Representatives of the Central South Industry Association, over 170 new energy and related enterprises, and more than 400 Chinese and foreign media reporters attended the conference.

Ambassador Chen stated in his speech that South Africa is currently experiencing unprecedented power shortages. As a good brother, good friend, and good partner, China sympathizes with the difficulties faced by the South and is willing to provide support to the South within its capabilities. At the same time, both countries shoulder the historical task of accelerating energy transformation and promoting sustainable economic development, and it is timely to strengthen cooperation in new energy investment between China and South Africa. The main purpose of this conference is to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, build a platform for information exchange and cooperation between relevant enterprises and institutions in China and South Africa, mobilize more forces to participate in the development of South Africa's new energy industry, provide assistance for South Africa to alleviate the power crisis, and inject new impetus into practical cooperation between China and South Africa.

Minister Gordan thanked the Chinese side for carefully planning this activity, and recalled with pleasure that during his visit to China a few weeks ago, he saw China use advanced artificial intelligence technology to provide support for energy transformation. He believed that it was worth learning from South Africa and even Africa as a whole. This new energy investment and cooperation conference is an important manifestation of the cooperation between South Africa and China in a very constructive way.

Minister Ramohopa thanked China for sending a special delegation to South China to attend the conference, and believed that this new energy investment cooperation conference will further consolidate and deepen the practical cooperation relationship between the two countries. He sincerely thanks China for its support to the people of South Africa and generously extended a helping hand when the South needed it the most. The South has contacted multiple embassies in South Africa to seek assistance, but only China has responded positively and unconditionally provided assistance to South Africa.

Ambassador Xie Shengwen stated that this event provides important assistance to South Africa in responding to the electricity crisis. The advanced technological experience of China's green development and energy transformation provides important reference for the South. The South African Embassy and Consulate in China will continue to build bridges for cooperation between South China enterprises and promote mutual benefit and win-win outcomes between the two sides.

After the opening ceremony, representatives of Chinese and South African enterprises held exchanges and discussions around "Green Energy Helps Economy of South Africa's Economic Development", and held a special forum to share experience, strengthen docking, and actively promote new energy cooperation projects.
